4th November 2010 - Findaphotostore.com launches today to help people find their local photo retailers. Essentially a photographic search engine, the website lists all photographic retailers in a given location and where possible directs you to their web site giving consumers the option of ordering online, or heading in to their local store for some good, old-fashioned expert advice. It offers the added bonus of an online photo-gifts store, featuring hundreds, of photo-themed presents for loved ones.

The website launches today with a national advertising campaign and hundreds of prizes to be won – just click on the homepage for details. From launch the website will feature over 1200 independent photo retail stores, with numbers growing daily.

Founder, Andrew Clark, previously worked in the photo buying department of a large supermarket chain, but hit on the idea of Findaphotostore.com when he became increasingly concerned for the well-being of the photographic-industry due to aggressive price competition from non-specialist retailers. He explains:

“I’d been thinking of launching the site for a while because independent retailers are such an integral part of any community – they add vibrancy, expertise and character – but it’s tough for them. I’ve worked in photography all my working life and these retailers, in particular, have a hard time with all the big multiple stores and online sales pricing them out of business. They’re such a valuable resource that it would be a sad, but unfortunately increasingly likely, loss to see them disappear from our high-streets altogether. Consumers can really benefit from the level of knowledge, and genuine passion, these stores offer and I hope Findaphotostore.com will encourage them to make good use of it.”
