FLIR Systems introduces PS-series thermal imaging cameras to the popular ‘Scout’ range

As the world leader in thermal imaging technology, FLIR systems have brought the power of thermal imaging to as many users as possible, including Outdoor professionals and serious enthusiast, with the launch of their new Scout PS-series cameras and at very affordable prices.

The FLIR PS-series features two rugged, handheld thermal imaging cameras that are compact and have extremely light systems and the cameras offer the user the opportunity to see more of their surroundings than any other night vision technology.

An asset to anyone who needs an unobstructed view at night be that to observe the movements of wildlife or to secure the safe path home, the Scout PS-series will increase ability to detect animals at distant ranges in the form of a clear, high resolution image. The Scout thermal imaging camera produces a crisp picture in the darkest of nights, through mist, fog, smoke, dust and even foliage.

Unrivalled in its marketplace, the device sees clearly in total darkness. It makes images from heat, not light, a feat impossible for the human eye or even image-intensified night vision devices. People, animals and all objects – even ice – make their own heat and their own contrast, so are clearly seen by the Scout camera, even in the most adverse conditions.

Whereas conventional night vision optics may be useful for situational awareness, they cannot see in total darkness, penetrate foliage or make a picture at great distances. The advanced image processing capabilities produce acute, penetrating thermal vision from night to day – even in sunlight the camera will clearly highlight animals or people concealed by trees or bushes.

Rugged and easy to use
The compact, all weather design of the FLIR Scout PS is built to withstand the demands of day-in, dayout outdoor use. They are ideal for go anywhere operations, in all circumstances and the models are IP67 rated. The models operate between -20°C and +50°C. Ergonomic and easy to use, the FLIR Scout PS-series are fully controlled with just 4 conveniently placed buttons on top of the unit. Eyebrow style light shield eye-pieces allows the operator to remain fully covert, in total darkness.

Crisp thermal images
The FLIR Scout PS-series are equipped with an uncooled, maintenance free, microbolometer detector The cameras produce high resolution thermal images of 240x180 or 320x240 pixels on which the smallest of details can be seen. Along with the ability to freeze frame or offer a 2x Digital E-Zoom, the Scout PS is equipped with additional advanced internal camera software that delivers remarkable images without the need for user adjustments.

InstAlert™
The unique InstAlert feature colours the hottest parts in the thermal image red. It makes it very easy to spot animals in the thermal image.

Long battery life
Both versions of the FLIR Scout PS-series come with long-life rechargeable Li-lon batteries and can operate up to 5 hours on a single load.

LED tasklight
Both versions come with a LED tasklight on the front of the unit. It can be used to illuminate a small area.

The FLIR Scout PS-series brings the benefits of thermal imaging within reach of civilians for the first time.
