Photokina is always an exciting time for those in the photography industry and this year’s Hasselblad booth will be a hotspot for attendees to learn about and experience the World of Hasselblad. We’ll have two stages with special set-ups for hands-on shooting of models and car with H4D cameras. Additionally, there will also be a Knowledge Center to learn more about Hasselblad hardware and software, Master classes on car photography, special Phocus VIP Training Sessions as well as revealing presentations by some of the world’s best photographers. We look forward to seeing you during photokina at the Hasselblad booth in Hall 2.1, Aisle A, Booth 021.

Hands-on Shooting at Fashion Stage
From the Moulin Rouge to the Lido, Paris is known for its spectacular burlesque shows and now Hasselblad is bringing a part of Paris to Cologne during photokina. Renowned fashion photographer Tom Hagemeyer will re-create the excitement of the Paris cabaret by staging a burlesque show at the Hasselblad booth. Visitors will have the opportunity to photograph this amazing event using the latest high-end digital camera-the H4D.

Although Hagemeyer is best known for his fashion photography he explains that “This is more than just a fashion show-I want to create a unique story that’s visually and photographically stimulating.” He goes on to say that, “The combination of staging, costumes, special lighting, haze effects and beautiful models will easily make this one of the most exciting events on the show floor.”

Models will be prepared by make-up artist Mily Serebrenik and costumed by stylist Sorell Smith, whose expertise in burlesque costuming is well-known in Paris and around the world. To make photographing this event even more dimensional, designer Danny Deluxe will provide latex outfits to complement and contrast the textures of the models’ burlesque costumes. Photographers will find the juxtaposition of looks and reflections of light off the latex particularly interesting to capture with the H4D.

If you’re interested in shooting this exceptional stage show and seeing how well the H4D’s True Focus technology really works, be sure to pre-register online at the Hasselblad website for the Catwalk Experience. The show will run several times a day throughout the length of the fair.

Master Classes at Car Stage
Beautiful cars are as interesting and exciting to photograph as live models, so Hasselblad is setting up a special stage with one of the world’s most extraordinary sports cars. Professional automobile photographers Guenther Raupp (Tuesday-Thursday) and Roberto Bigano (Friday-Sunday) will offer 30-minute Master Classes five times a day for attendees to get a first-hand look at their set-up and shooting techniques.

VIP Car Shoot
From all pre-registrations at the Hasselblad website, 30 lucky winners will be selected to have a VIP Car Shoot on the car stage at the Hasselblad booth. If your name is drawn, you’ll get a 30-minute photography session with one-to-one professional support. Of course, you’ll be shooting with an H4D to capture the best pictures possible and you’ll take them home on a SanDisk card. You’ll also receive free entrance to photokina! Register online for an opportunity to win the VIP Car Shoot and experience the H4D first hand.

Master Auditorium
The best photographers in the world shoot with Hasselblad and you’ll have the opportunity to hear some of them speak at our booth. Topics covered will be as diverse as the photographers such as Michael Grecco, Hans Strand and Stephan Zirwes with talks scheduled five times a day throughout the week.

Phocus One-on-One
Hasselblad is also offering a unique opportunity during the fair for current Phocus users to participate in an exclusive, hour-long Phocus VIP Training Session where the trainers will answer questions and address issues that are unique to your personal Phocus workflow.

Training sessions are limited to a maximum of 8 people in order to provide individual attention. One meeting a day will be scheduled-in either German or English, according to the needs of participants. Be sure to pre-register at the Hasselblad website as soon as possible since space is limited for this first come, first served event.

Hasselblad Knowledge Center
Following its success at last photokina, Hasselblad once again is providing visitors with the opportunity to speak directly with the people responsible for developing the high-end technology. The engineering team, including the Director of Product Management, Peter Stig-Nielsen will be available to answer your questions and provide insight about the technical aspects of Hasselblad products. Be sure to catch a demo of the new H4D cameras, too!

A special expert team will also be on-site to demonstrate Phocus and answer your questions about the latest version of Hasselblad’s powerful but easy-to-use imaging software.
