IGPOTY at Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh

The Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh (RBGE) will host this year's International Garden Photographer of the Year (IGPOTY) exhibition from 1st April to 29th June. The exhibition will feature selections from the competition categories which focus on biodiversity and the wider environment, including The Beauty of Plants, Wildflower Landscapes, Wildlife in the Garden, Breathing Spaces and Trees, Wood and Forests. International Garden Photographer of the Year at the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh
International Garden Photographer of the Year returns to Edinburgh with a fantastic display of garden and plant photography.
- April 1st to June 29th 2014
The RBGE exhibition will feature selections from the competition categories which focus on biodiversity and the wider environment - 'Images of a Green Planet' - categories on display are:
- The Beauty of Plants- including the overall winner - 'My Prairie Garden' by Rosanna Castrini.
- Wildflower Landscapes- featuring Scottish bluebells
- Wildlife in the Garden - squabbling pigeons and violent wasps
- Breathing Spaces - the mind and body benefits of open spaces
- Beautiful Gardens - from California to Russia via Cumbria
- Trees Wood and Forests- including Loch Lubhair
IGPOTY CEO said: "We are absolutely thrilled to be back in Edinburgh at one of the world's most beautiful gardens. It is indeed a privilege to be here."
The outdoor display is sponsored by Water Gems - landscape and water features specialists
Selections from the exhibition will then travel around the UK, Germany Portugal and Poland.
Photographers from all over the world are invited to enter the annual International Garden Photographer of the Year competition, now in its sixth year.
International Garden Photographer of the Year is the world's premier competition for garden, plant and environmental photography, organised in association with the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew.
There are eight categories:
* The Beauty of Plants
* Wildflower Landscapes
* Greening the City
* Beautiful Gardens
* Wildlife in the Garden
* Trees, Woods, Forests
* Breathing Spaces
* The Bountiful Earth
Photographers can enter single images or themed portfolios of six.
There are over £13,000 worth of cash prizes with a range of special awards and prizes. All successful photographers have the chance to participate in next year's prestigious touring exhibitions .
All successful images will be included in a stunning book published by Kew Publishing.
