Ilford at Photokina 2012

Ilford has announced a diverse range of activity during the 2012 Photokina World of Imaging trade show. The company’s stand D.011 – E.010 in Hall 6.1 will host a gallery of works by renowned photographers and amateurs alike, with exhibition-quality prints made with Galerie Prestige inkjet media. The stand also features the work of Timothy Allen, the photographer for the BBC’s Human Planet series. The culmination of the ILFORD activity at photokina will be a major expansion of the five star Ilford Galerie Prestige range, comprising a total of five new inkjet photo papers.

Avon, CT & Marly, Switzerland – Tuesday 4 September 2012 – ILFORD, (http://www.ilford.com), a leading developer and manufacturer of professional quality media for both inkjet printing and colour photographic processes, today announced a diverse range of activity during the 2012 photokina World of Imaging fair. photokina takes place from September 18-23 in Cologne, Germany, where the ILFORD stand will be located in Hall 6.1, D.011 – E.010.

The breadth of activity planned by ILFORD at photokina demonstrates its continued devotion to the art of photography, which has been at the heart of the business ever since the company was founded in 1879. Photographers are invited to experience the possibilities offered by ILFORD media by taking part in the following events:

Showcase of stunning images by ILFORD Masters including Sebastião Salgado & Eric Meola, and featuring images by BBC Human Planet photographer Timothy Allen
The ILFORD stand D.011 – E.010 in Hall 6.1 will host a gallery of works by renowned photographers and amateurs alike, with exhibition-quality prints made with GALERIE Prestige inkjet media.

This includes photographs by ILFORD Masters Sebastião Salgado (Brazil), Marc Lagrange (Belgium); Eric Meola (USA); Eddie Tapp (USA) and Elinor Carucci (Israel). The recently-launched ILFORD Masters programme underlines the commitment of some of the world’s leading photographers to creating superior quality prints with ILFORD inkjet media.

The ILFORD stand also features the work of Timothy Allen, the photographer for the BBC’s Human Planet series. A selection of photographs captured during Allen’s two-year adventure shadowing the BBC’s production crew will be on display.

Alongside the work of these renowned photographers, ILFORD is showcasing winning and highly-commended selections from its monthly ILFORD Flickr competition, which gives contestants from around the world the chance to have their images featured on the ILFORD homepage. The images will be on display for visitors to see first-hand and vote for their favourite, with the winner of the public vote awarded a selection of GALERIE Prestige media. Imaging Without Boundaries
An exhibition for the creativity-hungry, Imaging Without Boundaries gives cutting edge artists from around Europe the opportunity to demonstrate techniques that challenge the boundaries of photography as an art form. Each artist or organisation has been allocated their own stand, where they will showcase the extraordinary results produced by their creative approach to photography technique, image capture and image output. Imaging Without Boundaries is a cooperation between ILFORD Imaging Switzerland and IMAGO1:1, the team behind the largest walk-in camera in the world, who will show work made with ILFORD direct positive media during the exhibition.

See Me, Feel Me, Print Me
The specialist fine art event See Me, Feel Me, Print Me returns to photokina following a successful debut in 2010. ILFORD participates with prints made on its TIPA Award-winning GALERIE Prestige Smooth Pearl 310 gsm and Gold Fibre Silk 310 gsm media.  Consisting of large-format images suspended from the ceiling of the exhibition hall, See Me, Feel Me, Print Me invites visitors to closely inspect the some of the best fine art papers available to photographers today. The event takes place throughout the show in Hall 2.2, stand B 40. 

Leica Camera AG prints with ILFORD GALERIE Prestige media
Leica Camera AG will be appearing at this year’s photokina in Cologne with a unique exhibition concept. From 18 to 23 September, Leica will be presenting works by internationally acclaimed photographers in Hall 1 – and making art photography an unforgettable experience for visitors to the photokina event. The Leica presence includes an exhibition with images from the prestigious ‘Facing Change: Documenting America’ by Anthony Suau on ILFORD GALERIE Prestige media, as well as using the range for live printing activity throughout the show.

New Product Launches
The culmination of the ILFORD activity at photokina will be a major expansion of the five star ILFORD GALERIE Prestige range. Exclusively at photokina, ILFORD will introduce a total of five new inkjet photo papers, serving to offer photographers a wider choice of weights, surfaces and applications for creating superior quality photo prints. A formal introduction to these new products will be presented at the ILFORD press conference, which will take place on Wednesday, September 19 from 16:00 – 17:00 in Rheinsaal section V and VI at the Congress Centre North.
