Photo album site first to make printed books with Instagram photos

With the meteoric rise of mobile photo-sharing applications, capturing photos as printed physical keepsakes has become more challenging than ever.

But a new Silicon Valley start-up aims to make creating printed photo books as simple as taking photos with these social applications.

Keepsy has released its new Instant Album product, which helps people make printed photo books using photos from the popular applications Instagram, Facebook, Flickr, and the Android application, PicPlz .

“Everyone at Keepsy is a huge Instagram fan, so the moment they announced their API, we were excited about building a product around it,” said CEO Peter Weck. “Our goal is to make creating photo books as fun as taking the photos, so Instagram was an obvious match for us.”

To make an album, one simply connects to Instagram through the Keepsy website. Keepsy automatically picks the best photos and lets one customize the selection before creating your album. The output is an 11 x 8.5 inch hardback album that starts at $29.95 for 30 pages.

“People want beautiful, high-quality albums that don’t take hours or days to make,” said Blake Williams, VP of Product. “With Instant Album, you can now create a book in just a few minutes—and still have control over the flow and photo selection of your album. While there are other products that will let you make a photo album quickly, nobody matches Keepsy’s speed and customization.”

Keepsy is notably the first photo book site to launch an integration using the Instagram API.

The release comes just weeks after the site was awarded the judge’s choice award at the Web 2.0 Startup Showcase in San Francisco.
