FOCUS ON IMAGING, February 22nd 2004 - Kodak has announced enhancements to its consumer portfolio with improved KODAK High Definition and KODAK ULTRA MAX Film platforms to deliver key consumer benefits, including enhanced clarity and versatility in a multitude of film formats.
This announcement underscores the company’s commitment to producing the world?s highest quality film. These portfolio enhancements build upon the success of recent innovations such as KODAK High Definition Film, and will become widely available in spring 2004.
Kodak estimates that around 90 million rolls of film will be used this year to capture images. Kodak?s enhanced portfolio recognizes this, providing tangible benefits to consumers - offering clearer and more flexible images from single use cameras and film.
KODAK High Definition Single Use Camera Offers Clearer Pictures
The new KODAK High Definition Single Use Camera delivers clearer, sharper pictures than any other single use camera in its class; without sacrificing the affordability and convenience expected from KODAK Single Use Cameras. The new camera will provide tangible benefits to consumers who, as recent research show, identify clear, sharp pictures as a key consumer need in the single use camera category.
The revised KODAK High Definition Single Use Camera features a new film emulsion and a new faster shutter speed, at just 0.006 seconds faster than any other single use camera, to deliver excellent sharpness and unsurpassed grain particularly for action shots. The EKTANAR Lens used in this range further enhances sharpness and ensures well-focused pictures. Meanwhile, the camera?s flash charges at the touch of a button for ease of use.
This improved KODAK High Definition Single Use Camera together with KODAK ADVANTIX High Definition 100-speed APS Film and KODAK High Definition 200-speed 35mm Film forms the High Definition range. Consistent with High Definition Film, the packaging and positioning of the KODAK High Definition Single Use Camera communicate it as the best consumer choice for image clarity.
Improved Quality for KODAK ULTRA Film
Kodak also announced an improved KODAK ULTRA MAX Film, a truly versatile 800-speed 35mm film.
Consumer research illustrates a desire for film that provides versatility for all conditions. In fact, versatility has repeatedly been identified as the number one consumer need from film. The new KODAK ULTRA MAX 35mm Film emulsion offers finer grain, providing clearer pictures in both low light conditions and action situations. These improvements include a 10 percent increase in flash range for low light photography, true 800-speed film for fast action situations, and finer grain for clearer pictures and a longer shelf life. KODAK ULTRA MAX Film also offers enhanced performance in zoom cameras. These products will be available on a stock turnover basis in early 2004.
