Leica has expanded its product portfolio with a range of 'Made in Germany' premium-quality accessories. These include a carbon-fibre travel tripod, two ball-heads and a carrying case. The Leica Ball Heads 24 and 38 are distinguished by their compact form, premium engineering and ease-of-use. Despite its weighing only 140 grams, the version featuring a 24 mm ball diameter (£200) offers enough locking power and stability that it can securely hold a rangefinder camera, such as the Leica M, with a light lens. The same applies to the head with the 38 mm ball diameter (£330), which also features a range of additional functions including a tilt feature (tilt button). The 360° panorama feature (15° STOP button) allows the capture of multiple precisely aligned landscape, architecture and object shots from different positions that can be merged in post-processing to create impressive panoramic images. An ideal complement to the two ball heads, the new Leica carbon-fibre tripod (£430) weighs in at 1.2kg. An outdoor carrying case made of Cordura with a strap and shoulder pad is available as an optional extra for £60. These new Leica accessories will be available in the UK from authorised Leica dealers, starting October 2013.

Leica Press Release

Precise, easy to use, reliable

New Leica Photographic Accessories, 'Made in Germany'
02/10/2013

Solms, Germany, 2 October 2013: Leica Camera AG has expanded its product portfolio with 'Made in Germany' premium-quality accessories: The fitting Ball Heads 24 and 38, and the Travelling Tripod. Ideal for use with all Leica cameras, from compacts to X and M-System bodies, the Leica Ball Heads 24 and 38 guarantee that the camera is held securely and steadily in all photographic situations. They are particularly useful when frequently changing the position of the camera and shooting from different angles. The Leica Ball Heads 24 and 38 are further complimented by a set of three quick-change plates, allowing photographers to swiftly switch between several cameras without needing to change the plate.

The compact, lightweight, carbon fibre Traveller Tripod is the ideal accessory for photographers on the go. These carefully crafted new offerings feature optimally harmonised materials that ensure stability, low weight and years of dependability.

The Leica Ball Heads 24 and 38 are distinguished by their compact form, premium engineering and ease-of-use. Both versions are designed and constructed to enable photographers to bring the camera into the precise desired shooting position and perform fine adjustments with minimum effort. Despite it weighting only 140 grams, the version featuring a 24 mm ball diameter offers such enormous locking power and stability that it can securely hold a camera system with a light lens, such as the Leica M. It reliably enables the capture of images from various positions. The same applies to the version with the 38 mm ball diameter, which also features a range of additional functions including a tilt feature (tilt button). When this function is activated, the ball is allowed motion in the vertical plane and is prevented from moving in any other plane. The 360° panorama feature (15° STOP button) allows the capture of multiple precisely aligned landscape, architecture and object shots from different positions that can be merged in post-processing to create impressive panoramic images. This feature is aided by a click-detent option that locks the rotation of the ball in 15° steps. The click informs the user each time the ball head has been rotated by a further 15°.

An ideal complement to the two ball heads, the new Leica carbon fibre tripod boasts particularly impressive features including a weight of only 1.2 kg and an exceptional stability. When folded, the Travelling Tripod's dimensions are reduced to a minimum. The mounted ball head actually disappears inside the collapsed tripod, allowing it to fit in any travel camera bag. An outdoor carrying case made of Cordura with a strap and shoulder pad is available as an optional accessory.
