Nissin i40 Flash receives 'Best Portable Lighting System' in 2014 TIPA Awards

Kenro, the official distributor of Nissin flash guns in the UK, has announced that TIPA has awarded the Nissin i40 flash gun top honours in the 'Best Portable Lighting System' category at the 2014 Awards.

The Technical Image Press Association's (TIPA) annual Awards are recognized as the industry-leading benchmark for excellence, with an experienced professional judging panel consisting of editors from the worldwide photo imaging industry.

The newly launched Nissin i40 flash gun is available in models dedicated (TTL) to Canon, Nikon, Sony, Four thirds and Fujifilm models, and can cover a lens angle of view from 24-105mm, with additional coverage to 16mm with the supplied diffuser.

The Guide Number is 40 at the 105mm setting (meters/ISO 100) and 27 at 35mm. An innovative LED illuminator sits where smaller fill flash modules were in the past, and the light can be used for both still and video recording with 9 steps of output. The i40 offers rear, front curtain and high-speed sync, wireless slave and can be swiveled up to 180 degrees right and left and 90 degrees vertical.

The gun is also compact (3.35 x 2.4 x 3.35 inches) and lightweight (203g, without battery and soft box) and would make an excellent addition to any compatible camera kit.

Other functions include high-speed synchronization (supporting up to 1/8,000 seconds shutter speed), wireless TTL mode and a simple operation panel with two selector dials controls: Function dial and a Power dial, also making it a perfect flash for beginners.

The flash is powered by 4x AA batteries and has an SRP of £204 including VAT.

A spokesman from the TIPA Technical Committee commented: "The Nissin i40 offers a combination of impressive flash power and an innovative LED fill-in light in a small and lightweight package."

Says Paul Kench, managing director of Kenro: "I'm delighted TIPA has endorsed our own thoughts on the Nissin i40. We've always had high hopes for this flash gun; it seemed to tick all the right boxes from the start. Our dealers have experienced great interest in it and it's selling extremely well."
