Picfair Press Release

A new home for photography: Picfair invites its community to invest.

Fair photography platform Picfair today opens a crowdfunding campaign, offering its worldwide community of 35,000 photographers a chance to part own the business.

“Giving photographers an opportunity to own part of Picfair has been a long-standing ambition for us,” says Picfair founder and CEO Benji Lanyado. “Photographers helped us spread across the globe - uploading over 6 million images from over 130 countries - and now we want to give them an opportunity to own a part of what they’ve helped us build as we continue our journey over the coming years.”

Picfair’s crowdfund is being hosted on the Crowdcube platform, where Lanyado invites photographers to invest from as little as £10 in return for an equity stake in the business.

“Our mission is to bring photographers back in to the heart of an industry that has profited from their incredible hard work while gradually marginalising them,” states Lanyado.

He continues: “We’ve started with a new model for image licensing that gives photographers access, autonomy, respect, and a fair revenue share, but as we grow, we want to extend the same principle across the photographic landscape - in commissioned work, wall art, and standalone photography stores. We want to build a home for photography in which creativity is rewarded, not exploited. Our ultimate mission is to help any photographer, from any background or level of experience, make money in any way, anywhere.”

The campaign is now live to Picfair members who can access the link when signed into Picfair’s website at picfair.com – and after Picfair’s members have had the advanced opportunity to invest, the campaign will be opened up to the full Crowdcube community and the wider public. Including you.
