Canon is showcasing its strongest-ever product portfolio at IBC 2011, the leading tradeshow for media and broadcast professionals. Canon’s X-series camcorders will all be on display, with EOS HD Digital SLR cameras and a variety of EF lens solutions. IBC 2011 takes place at the RAI Amsterdam from 9-13 September.

The Casio EX-ZS100 is a new 14 megapixel camera with a special silent mode. Billed as the “first silent camera”, the ZS100 Silent Mode automatically configures the camera settings to avoid disturbing others around you. Also sporting a 12.5x optical zoom lens, the Casio ZS100 will be available from 18th August 2011, priced at £149.99.

The Epson Stylus Photo PX830FWD and PX730WD are new home photo printers that deliver better-than-lab-quality results. The PX730WD offers built-in Wi-Fi, while the PX830FWD is Epson’s premium 4-in-1 for high definition printing at home. The Epson Stylus PX730WD and PX830FWD are available from 1 September 2011 and will be priced at £259.99 and £299.99 respectively.

World Photography Day takes place on August 19th 2011. Photographers are invited to capture their world and get involved at www.worldphotoday.org. The worldphotoday.org website allows photographers from all walks of life to join in the celebration, and share what photography means to them.

UK based charity Sightsavers has just launched a new photo competition. The Sightsavers competition encourages people to submit a photo that they feel captures the essence of Diwali through family, fun, colour or light. The closing date for entries is 31st August and participants can submit as many entries as they like.

The Lowepro Optics Series is a new series of purpose-built bags for wildlife watchers. The Plugin Site has announced the MacOS X version of NoiseControl. NoiseControl is a Photoshop plugin, which effectively removes image noise while preserving essential details and the photographic quality of the image. NoiseControl costs $50, and a demo version is available.

The Unseen Eye: Photographs from the W.M. Hunt Collection is a new exhibition at the George Eastman House International Museum of Photography and Film. More than 500 photographs by the masters of the medium will be on view Oct. 1, 2011 through Feb. 19, 2012. W.M. Hunt is a renowned curator and dealer who has been collecting photographs for 40 years.

The EISA awards for 2011/2012 have just been unveiled. Among the 15 winners in the Photo Awards section was the Canon EOS 600D (pictured) as Best European Camera, Fujifilm FinePix X100 for European Advanced Compact Camera, and Panasonic LUMIX DMC-G3 for European Compact System Camera.

The Kingston Wi-Drive is a a wireless portable storage device for the Apple iPad, iPhone and iPod touch. The Wi-Drive allows users to play videos, access music or share files with other Apple device owners. Kingston offers the Wi-Drive in both 16GB and 32GB sizes priced at £89 and £119 respectively.
