WOULD THE REAL DAVID BAILEY PLEASE STAND UP

143 David Baileys from across the UK come together for Samsung’s photography revolution

London, UK – 1st October, 2012. Samsung’s campaign to democratise photography and turn the UK into a nation of photography enthusiasts reached new heights this weekend. Iconic photographer David Bailey, and 142 of his namesakes came together in central London to show that photography is no longer something that just trained professionals can enjoy.

To kick start this photography revolution, Samsung gave each of the David Baileys a new NX1000 camera, featuring super-fast shutter speeds for action images, built in wi-fi for immediate sharing and an i-Function lens system, challenging them to use it and create amazing images that the David Bailey would be proud of.  A selection of the best images will then be used in Samsung’s unique advertising campaign for the NX range.

The David Baileys, who include everything from painters and DJs, to a Priest and an amateur astronomer aged between 15 and 74 will be given a series of weekly online photography assignments designed to help them improve their photography and capture their daily life in stunning images that will make their everyday extraordinary.

Nick White, Head of Digital Imaging, Samsung Electronics UK and Ireland, said: “We want to show that everyone can take fantastic photos whatever their age, profession or indeed name. Through our campaign with David Bailey we aim to show that with the right camera, everyone can take shots like a professional photographer. The Samsung NX range is aimed at those with an interest in photography, who want to graduate from a compact to a more ‘professional’ style camera. ”

“It was great meeting all the other David Baileys and the campaign is fantastic. The idea of having loads of Baileys all over the place taking pictures is really different and funny. Today showed photography is for everyone. There were David Baileys everywhere I looked, enjoying taking pictures on their great new cameras.”
