X-Rite and Pantone to show attendees new tools to achieve higher efficiencies and better quality in the digital age of prepress, print, publishing and converting

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., April 13, 2012 – X-Rite, Incorporated (NASDAQ:XRIT) and its wholly owned subsidiary Pantone LLC will showcase their most advanced solutions for measuring and communicating colors in today’s complex digital workflows for the prepress, print, publishing and converting industries at the drupa 2012 trade fair to be held May 3–16 in Düsseldorf, Germany.

X-Rite and Pantone representatives will demonstrate how any stakeholder – from brand owner and specifier to designer and pressroom operator – can achieve higher efficiencies and improved quality through standardized and automated workflows, with precise color management solutions. Attendees who visit the X-Rite/Pantone stand D023, Hall 5 will experience hands-on demonstrations of the complete range of products, hear live presentations of case studies and obtain first-hand information on the new solutions.

“I think it’s fair to say that no vendor in the graphic arts industry knows color reference and management like X-Rite/Pantone,” said X-Rite Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing Vic Stalam. “Our introductions at drupa 2012 – new platforms for measurement, enhanced color libraries and integrated color communications solutions – offer the most exciting and complete package of new color tools for graphic arts and printing in the company’s history.”

Building upon Pantone’s expertise as the world’s color authority and X-Rite’s color and science technology leadership, X-Rite and Pantone have launched PantoneLIVE™, a dynamic ecosystem that delivers consistent color across the entire packaging workflow – from design concept to retail store shelves.

U.K.-based subsidiary of food giant H.J. Heinz Co. recently turned to PantoneLIVE to help bring color consistency to its trademark Heinz Beanz turquoise across different substrates.

“Across all of our packaging formats, we saw a reduction in color variance of 50 percent and saved time by establishing one color target that can be applied to all our Heinz Beanz designs,” said Nigel Dickie, director of corporate and government affairs for H.J. Heinz Company Ltd. “The results with our Beanz packaging have been so remarkable – that we plan to extend PantoneLIVE to additional product lines, including Heinz soups and Spaghetti Hoops.”

Other highlights of the show include demonstrations of:

i1Pro 2 color management solutions including the newly enhanced i1Pro 2 spectrophotometer that provides an even higher level of accuracy, versatility, ergonomics, functionality and value than i1 Pro, the leading choice for more than a decade. Combined with recently released i1Profiler software v1.3, the new i1Pro 2 portfolio meets the unique needs of prepress, digital printing and photography imaging professionals;

A new spectrophotometer platform that incorporates the latest touch-and-swipe navigation technology and intuitive software to make color measurements quick and easy for pressroom personnel, including ways to monitor and control color the new and emerging ISO standards; and

New products from Pantone that expand its color libraries, plus additional solutions from X-Rite specifically targeted for prepress, print, publishing and converting industries

The new spectrophotometer platforms are equipped with the X-Rite Graphic Arts Standard (XRGA) to make it quicker and easier for companies and professionals involved in digital production printing to adhere to ISO standards and have confidence that data sent or received from all links in the supply chain is reliable and repeatable.

“Anyone who visits our stand at the drupa show will see a wide range of solutions from X-Rite and Pantone,” said Shoshana Burgett, strategic marketing director at X-Rite. “X-Rite and Pantone now offer unparalleled solutions for the graphics and print industries that maintain and control color consistency starting with your customer’s brand and ending with finished products produced across a range of print technologies.”
