The Nikon Coolpix P60 is a well-built (especially solid with two AA batteries inserted) and reasonably priced option for digital beginners or casual snappers, if slightly boringly bringing nothing new to the party. Yes, it delivers image performance that falls within what is expected for this class of camera, but offers few additional bells and whistles to entice a potential purchaser to opt for it in preference to an almost limitless number of competitors. The low-ish resolution and poor performance of the P60's rear LCD screen is the largest disappointment, meaning that under sunny conditions it's a case of 'point and hope' as to ascertaining accurate framing, exposure and focus, and, while the alternative EVF fairs slightly better, it's so small you will find yourself squinting to use it. Still, the Nikon Coolpix P60 is indeed intuitive to use, delivers flattering results under most conditions and offers an outward air of sophistication that few models in its price bracket can muster. So, if you're in the market for an undemanding and relatively frill-free snapshot pocket camera, and given that our complaints are fairly minor and surmountable, it earns a PhotographyBLOG recommendation.
