Blue Day

Blue Day

"This is an exhibition about a common theme: Life in modern cities. It's called Polis. Since last year I've been traveling some places in Europe just for business. My small coolpix camera has always been with me and I thought of taking some shots about these cities. The idea was to shot places and situations not usually taken by touristic shots. If you isolate the typical monuments and places of each city then it could happen that we all live in the same city. And how are our cities?. Of course this is a very personal point of view, but I find them grey, stressing, unhuman, sad,... This is what I tried to capture with these shots. All of them where taken with a Sony DSC-P8 and a Nikon Coolpix 3500. Except "Stress Day" which was taken with a Minolta Dynax 800si."

Biography
"My name is Rafa Torcida. I'm from Spain and I'm 28. I've been taking photographs all of my life. As a child with an small Minolta Hi-Matic my father gave me, of course, with no knowledge about composition, lighting, etc... just for fun. But I think that made me love photography. Seven years ago, when I finished my Telecommunications studies and I started working... first thing I do was buy an SLR camera (a Minolta Dynax 500si). That little machine became one of my most loved friends for years. Since that moment photography has been a very important part of my life. I try to read as many books as I can about technique, master's life, etc... and I try to shoot even when I'm working :). I work as a software developer but I would like to make a living of photography some day in the future. Will it be possible?. I'm not really sure I have enough talent to make it. But for the moment, I'll try."
