Fujifilm has added four new Secure Digital (SD) cards to its memory card range, including a 16GB SDHC card. Available in October 2008 with pricing still to be announced, the new Fujifilm SD cards will be available in the formats below:

•          Secure Digital – 1GB SD, 2GB SD
•          Secure Digital High Capacity (SDHC) – 4GB SDHC, 8GB SDHC, 16GB SDHC
•          Micro Secure Digital – 1GB, 2GB
•          Micro Secure Digital High Capacity (SDHC) – 4GB,  8GB

Eye-Fi has made the upload of digital photos from camera to computer using its wireless memory cards twice as fast. “Faster wireless uploads and the ability to add new services to your Eye-Fi card are significant advancements in making it more convenient and rewarding to save and share digital memories,” said Jef Holove, CEO of Eye-Fi. “Even better, we’re able to offer this new convenience and flexibility to current users as well as new customers.” Beginning October 5, new and existing Eye-Fi card owners can easily add features that are not already included on their cards and renew annual services.. Eye-Fi has also announced plans to expand its distribution internationally to Japan and Canada by the end of the year.

Ilford Galerie Graphic is a new inkjet paper for professional photographers seeking more specialised media. Available in rolls from 17” to 44”, the Galerie Graphic product line includes Self adhesive vinyl, backlit transparency material, pop-up display media, heavyweight matt paper and ultra white pearl and gloss finishes. Ilford Galerie Graphic will be available in the UK from October 1st through JP Distribution.

The Gorillapod Focus from Joby is a unique, bendable tripod engineered to support SLR cameras with larger telephoto lenses. The Pentax AF160FC is a new auto macro flash designed for use with Pentax DSLR cameras. This new accessory flash unit utilises the automatic exposure-control system of Pentax’s DSLRs, producing uniform lighting on close-up subjects. The Pentax AF160FC has a maximum guide number of 16 and features a single control dial on the back panel to simplify flash-mode changes and discharge-level adjustments. SanDisk have unveiled a 16GB Extreme IV high-performance memory card at Photokina, and also have boosted the speed of the entire Extreme IV range up to 45 megabytes per second. SanDisk Extreme IV CF cards have undergone internal testing with many leading manufacturers’ cameras and DSLRs, such as Canon’s EOS series, Nikon’s D300 and D3 cameras, the Sony Alpha A700, and the Olympus E500 and E3 cameras. Depending on the camera used, the increased performance of the SanDisk Extreme IV memory card line may help reduce the delay between shots, enabling photographers to take more photos overall. The 16GB SanDisk Extreme IV CompactFlash memory card is available now for $399.99 in the United States and €281 in Europe.

Delkin have expanded the versatility of their sensor cleaning product line by offering new SensorSafe Wands in three sizes. The Lexar Professional UDMA 300x 16GB CompactFlash is a new memory card designed for professional photographers and photo enthusiasts. Sony’s new Memory Stick PRO-HG Duo HX memory card offers a fast read speed of 20MB/second. In combination with the supplied USB adaptor, the PRO-HG Duo HX card achieves 20MB/s in reading mode and 15MB/s in writing mode, a third faster than a standard Memory Stick PRO Duo. Also supplied are a free, downloadable Memory Stick Data Rescue Service which can quickly recover deleted photographs and files, and a 10 year warranty.

Ilford will unveil new and improved Galerie inkjet papers at this year’s Photokina show. PhotoReview have reviewed the Nikon SB-900, the brand new top-of-the-range Speedlight flash gun.

“We were only able to test the SB-900’s capabilities as a single flash unit and in conjunction with the D700’s built-in flash. And, not having reviewed the SB-800, we were unable to compare the performance of the two flash units. Suffice it to say we found the test sample to be an excellent performer that delivered an evenly-exposed set of test shots with different camera-to-subject distances and focal length settings. In use, we found recycling to be almost silent and very fast with NiMH rechargeables matching the 2.3-second recycle times claimed in the SB-900’s specifications.”
