Kenko Tokina has announced the Tokina 16-28mm T3.0 Cinema Lens for video-enabled EF-mount dSLRs and PL-mount movie cameras. The optical formula comprises 15 elements arranged in 13 groups and a nine-bladed diaphragm. The minimum focus distance is 28cm, and the maximum reproduction ratio is 1:5.26. The lens takes large 123mm filters. In Japan, the PL-mount version is available now for 580,000 yen, with the EF-mount variant scheduled for a late November release. International availability and pricing have yet to be communicated.

Nikon today announced the world’s first water/shockproof interchangeable lenses for use with the Nikon 1 AW1 compact system camera. The Nikon 1 Nikkor AW 11–27.5mm f/3.5-5.6 lens is a standard zoom equivalent to a 30–74mm lens in a 35mm system, and the 1 Nikkor AW 10mm f/2.8 is a 27mm equivalent wide-angle prime lens with a tough build and a metallic exterior. Both lenses are waterproof (to 15 m and 20 m respectively), shockproof from heights of up to 2m and freezeproof for temperatures down to -10°C. The Nikon 1 Nikkor AW 11–27.5mm f/3.5-5.6 will only be available in a kit with the Nikon 1 AW1 camera, while the 1 Nikkor AW 10mm f/2.8 can also be bought separately, for £299.99 / €359.

The Olympus M.Zuiko Digital 12-40mm f/2.8 Pro is a new splash-, freeze- and dustproof standard zoom lens for Micro Four Thirds cameras. Covering a 35mm equivalent focal range of 24-80mm, the Olympus M.Zuiko Digital 12-40mm f/2.8 Pro lens offers a constant maximum aperture of f/2.8 throughout its zoom range. The optical formula comprises 14 elements arranged in 9 groups, including 1 aspherical element, 1 dual-sided aspherical element, 2 ED glass elements, 2 HR glass elements, 1 EDA glass element and 1 HD glass element. Other highlights include a manual focus clutch mechanism, a 62mm filter thread and a customisable L-Fn button which, by default, allows users to temporarily suspend continuous auto focus when something suddenly comes between the lens and your intended subject. Initially, the Olympus M.Zuiko Digital 12-40mm f/2.8 will be available in a bundle with the new Olympus OM-D E-M1 compact system camera for £1949.99. In the US, the lens will be sold separately for around $1,100.

Olympus is developing a professional-grade telephoto zoom lens for the Micro Four Thirds system. The M.Zuiko Digital ED 40-150mm f:2.8 Pro will cover a 35mm equivalent focal range of 80-300mm, while offering a constant maximum aperture of f/2.8 throughout its entire zoom range. Currently, no further information is available on the lens, other than that it "will be ideal for capturing pro-standard shots of moving subjects," but we fully expect it to be weather sealed just like the newly introduced M.Zuiko Digital 12-40mm f/2.8 Pro.

Phase One has announced the immediate availability of a new Schneider Kreuznach 2x teleconverter. Compatible exclusively with the Schneider Kreuznach 240mm leaf shutter and 150mm leaf shutter lenses as well as the Mamiya/Phase One 150mm AF lens, this 2x teleconverter effectively doubles the focal length of these lenses to 480mm and 300 mm, respectively. The Fujinon XF23mm f/1.4 R is a new fast, moderate wide-angle lens for Fujifilm's X-mount compact system cameras. With a focal length equivalent to 35mm in 35mm format, the Fujinon XF23mm f/1.4 R prime lens is suitable for a wide range of applications including street photography, landscapes and reportage. According to Fujifilm, the new lens design provides enhanced resolving power with high contrast to draw the maximum performance out of the company's X-Trans CMOS sensors. The optical formula comprises 11 elements arranged in 8 groups, while the focusing lens group consists of three cemented lens elements and one aspheric lens element to keep weight down while the built-in high-torque DC coreless motor delivers ultra-fast AF performance, Fujifilm claims. The Fujinon XF23mm f/1.4 lens will be on sale from October 2013, priced at £849.99.

The Sony DSC-QX10 and DSC-QX100 lens-sensor modules attach to your smartphone to provide "image quality and creative options to rival a premium standalone [compact] camera." The 20-megapixel DSC-QX100 combines a fairly big 1"-type (13.2x8.8mm) sensor with a 28-100mm (eq.) f/1.8-4.9 lens, while the lighter, 18-megapixel DSC-QX10 offers a combination of a smaller 1/2.3"-type imager and a 25-250mm (eq.) f/3.3-5.9 zoom. Both the DSC-QX10 and DSC-QX100 boast a Bionz processor, Optical Steady Shot and Wi-Fi with NFC (Near-Field Communications). Both are capable of shooting 1440x1080-pixel videos at 30fps, and each comes with a proprietary lithium-ion battery. The Sony DSC-QX10 and DSC-QX100 attach to your smartphone with the supplied adapter that fits several popular models. Going on sale at the end of September, both modules (or "lens-style cameras" as Sony calls them) are available to pre-order now via the website below. Canon has unveiled a new EF Cinema prime lens. Featuring an eleven-bladed iris diaphragm, 300° focus rotation and a close-focus point of 30cm, the 4K-ready Canon EF CN-E35mm T1.5 L F is the sixth member of Canon’s line of compact, precision-matched EF-mount Cinema prime lenses, which also includes 14mm, 24mm, 50mm, 85mm and 135mm focal lengths. Ensuring consistency when shooting across a number of different Cinema prime lenses, the new 35mm lens provides colour reproduction that matches others in the range, as well as featuring the same form factor and uniform markings, making it easy to switch between lenses when on a shoot. The Canon CN-E35mm T1.5 L F Cinema prime lens is expected to be available in December 2013 for an estimated retail price of $5,200.

Ricoh has announced the upcoming launch of five HD PENTAX-DA Limited lenses designed for use with K-mou nt interchangeable-lens digital cameras. These new lenses - including the HD Pentax-DA15mm F4ED AL Limited (pictured), the HD Pentax-DA 21mm F3.2AL Limited, the HD Pentax-DA 35mm F2.8 Macro Limited, HD Pentax-DA 40mm F2.8 Limited and the HD Pentax-DA 70mm F2.4 Limited - inherit the distinctive looks and premium appearance of the earlier Pentax Limited products, while adding state-of-the-art HD coating and a round-shaped diaphragm for a pleasing bokeh. In addition to the new 16-70mm f/4 and 18-105mm f/4 zoom lenses, Sony has announced that its E 50mm f/1.8 OSS portrait prime will now be available in black, in addition to the existing silver version. "This bright, wide-aperture prime lens is ideal for capturing atmospheric handheld portraits with flattering background defocus (bokeh)," the company says. "Optical SteadyShot cuts the effects of camera shake for crisp, blur-free images when you’re relying on available light. Smooth, quiet autofocus is less likely to disturb your subject – whether you’re shooting stills or Full HD video." The Sony E 50mm f/1.8 Black Edition will be available in fall 2013, priced at around $300.
