Profoto has just introduced its new Umbrella XL product line. Available in three versions – white, silver and translucent – the new Profoto Umbrella XL fits on all Profoto flash heads and monolights and features a diameter of 65” with a slightly parabolic shape that allows photographers to change the light distribution by simply sliding the umbrella shaft inside the flash head. Nikon has just launched its new flagship i-TTL flashgun; the Nikon SB-910. Replacing the SB-900, the Nikon SB-910 features re-designed menus and controls, and offers three distinct illumination patterns, 17-200mm zoom coverage and a tilt-swivel head. The guide number of the flash is 34 at ISO 100/21° (in metres at the 35mm zoom position, using the Standard illumination pattern). For such a powerful unit, the Nikon SB-910 recycles rather quickly at 2.3 seconds when using LR6 NiMH batteries. Innova Art has launched its new JetMaster paper for the fine art market. The ioShutter cable and app, developed by Enlight Photo, allow you to use an iPod touch, iPhone or iPad as a wired remote release for your Canon, Hasselblad or Pentax camera. Capta from Texas-based Unique Design is a hybrid camera phone accessory that acts as a tripod mount, phone stand and cable management system. The patent-pending device allows you to mount any smartphone on a standard tripod with a 1/4-20 stud and pop it up at any angle for portrait or landscape oriented shots. Capta is constructed of an aluminium base plate and a proprietary adhesive pad. This proprietary pad allows Capta to hold smartphones securely at any angle for extended periods of time and leaves no residue. The design also incorporates a cable groove for cable management and a threaded hole for attachment to a tripod. In order to help fund the launch of Capta, Unique Design has set up a Kickstarter page for the project.
