Calumet's Manchester and London stores now host three of the best Eizo monitors so photographers can put them through their paces. Each store has a ColorEdge CG276, CX240 and CS230 (pictured) for customers to try out. “The Calumet stores are perfect for photographers at any level to actually see for themselves the positive difference that an Eizo CG monitor will make to their pictures,” said Victor Aberdeen, Eizo ColorEdge Sales Manager. “Photographers often are put off by the technical stuff about monitors, but it is about the art, so being able to try them out for themselves brings the advantages into focus, showing photographers the detail ordinary monitors are hiding, which really benefits their images!”

Ricoh has announced two new, weather-resistant flash units designed for use with a range of Pentax cameras. The Pentax AF540FGZ II (£549.99) has a guide number of 54 in metres at ISO 100/21°, and features a zooming tilt-swivel head, a built-in wide-angle panel, a variety of flash discharge modes, and a newly designed high-intensity white LED light that comes in handy for close-distance movie recording and still-image shooting requiring extended exposures. The Pentax AF360FGZ II (£399.99) offers a similar set of features, except for its lower guide number of 36.

LPA Design, manufacturers of PocketWizard Photo Products, have released a new hotshoe-to-miniphone cable (HSFM3). This three-foot cable, which has a basic (non-TTL) hot shoe on one end and a mono miniphone connector on the other, allows photographers to slide any speedlight style flash into the shoe to avoid using the sometimes unreliable or missing PC port.  The miniphone end plugs into either a Plus radio (PlusX, Plus III, Plus II or Plus Receivers), MultiMAX Transceiver or FlexTT5 Transceiver. Other features of the new HSFM3 include a ¼-20 socket below the hot shoe, gold plated contacts and robust design to ensure reliability.  The HSFM3 is available now at an estimated retail price of $40. Also available is the new locking PC to miniphone adapter (MPCF-L, $15), which allows users to convert any cord with a PC connection into a miniphone connection.

eleMount is a premium all aluminium mount that works with virtually all handheld mobile devices. The CNC machined mount places your smartphone or tablet on a quality pedestal that complements its design. Using proprietary elePads, the base of the mount sticks to any flat surface, and the top securely adheres to mobile devices regardless of their size or generation. The commercialisation of eleMount is funded through a Kickstarter project. The regular eleMount will be available for $79.99, with a Mini version being offered for $69.99.

Creativity Backgrounds have added a new product to its range. Profoto has launched a new range of collapsible reflectors for photographers. Designed with high-quality fabrics, each Profoto reflector has a sturdy yet collapsible squircle-shaped metal frame equipped with two ergonomically shaped handles. Four types of two-sided reflectors are available: Silver/White, Sunsilver/White, Gold/White & Matte Black/White. There is also a translucent screen available to be used as a diffuser. Each of these comes in two sizes: Medium (80 cm /32’’) and Large (120 cm /47”), priced at £59 and £89 respectively.

Today, Profoto released the latest addition to its assortment of speedring adapters: a new and improved RFi Speedlight Speedring, which allows you to use an RFi softbox with speedlights. The product enables photographers to mount not one but two flashes on the bracket, and each speedlight can slide and be tilted inside the softbox, allowing you to create a remarkably even light with no hotspot. The Profoto RFi Speedlight Speedrings come with an attachment for Profoto Air Remotes or radio sync units from other manufacturers.

Joby has launched two adaptable mini tripods designed for point-and-shoot cameras, phones and action video cameras. Inspired by the original GorillaPod, the Joby the GPod Mini Magnetic (pictured) is a mini-tripod with magnetic feet that secure to all types of metal objects. Designed for point-and-shoot and action video cameras, the mini-tripod has an adjustable neck which allows users to change the position of their camera angle for more creative possibilities. The Joby MPod Mini Stand features a universal design that fits most smartphones, with or without their protective cases. The mini tripod is built with flexible leg joints that adapt to all types of surfaces. Its expandable head mount clamps a smartphone in place, making it easy to set up a steady shot. Available for pre-order, each mini-tripod weighs less than two ounces.

The Wacom Cintiq Companion and Cintiq Companion Hybrid are two new portable creative tablets. The Cintiq Companion is a fully-fledged Windows 8 tablet, powered by a 3rd generation Intel Core processor and Intel HD Graphics 4000 and running full versions of creative software. The Cintiq Companion Hybrid is a more traditional Cintiq when plugged into a Mac or PC, but when used as a mobile device, works as a stand-alone Android tablet.

The Cintiq Companion is priced at £1649,99 (256 GB version) and £1999.99 (512 GB version). The Cintiq Companion Hybrid costs £1199.99 (16 GB) and £1299.99 (32 GB). Both products will be available from mid-October onwards.
