The Leica SL (Typ 601) is a new mirrorless system camera that marks "the beginning of a new era in professional photography". The Leica SL features the fastest auto-focusing of any full-frame system camera, a 24 megapixel full-frame CMOS sensor, 4K video with a frame rate of 30 frames per second, 4.4million pixel electronic viewfinder, 2.95” back panel display with a viewing angle of up to 170°, Maestro II Series processor, 11fps burst shooting, built-in wi-fi and a highest ISO setting of 50,000.
Three new lenses have also been unveiled alongside the Leica SL - the Leica Vario-Elmarit-SL 24–90 mm f/2.8–4 ASPH. standard zoom, Leica APO-Vario-Elmarit-SL 90–280 mm f/2.8–4, and the Leica Summilux-SL 50 mm f/1.4. In addition, all lenses for the Leica T camera can be used without an adapter as they share the same mount. In addition, appropriate adapters allow almost all Leica S, M, and R system lenses ever made to be mounted on the Leica SL, as well as lenses from other manufacturers.
The Leica SL (Typ 601) body is scheduled to be available in the UK from authorised Leica stockists from 16 November 2015, at a suggested retail price of £5,050 including VAT.
The Leica Vario-Elmarit-SL 24–90 mm f/2.8–4 ASPH. zoom lens is scheduled to be available at the same time, at a suggested retail price of £3,150 including VAT. The Leica APO-Vario-Elmarit-SL 90-280mm f/2.8–4 will be available in Q2 2016, and the Leica Summilux-SL 50mm f/1.4 ASPH. will be available in Q4 2016, pricing for both to be confirmed at a later date.

Sony has unveiled the release date of the previously announced firmware update that will add uncompressed 14-bit raw image capture to the A7R II compact system camera. Version 2.0 will be available for download through Sony's e-support site from 19th October. In addition to uncompressed raw capture, which will become a selectable feature within the menu system for updated cameras, the firmware also adds the ability for the A7R II to output video via HDMI during use of the Remote Camera Control software, which enables remote capture from a connected computer.

Version 1.8 adds support for the on-sensor phase-detect auto-focus (PDAF) function of the Olympus OM-D E-M1 and Sony Alpha 7R II compact system cameras. Olympus have announced an upcoming firmware update for the Olympus OM-D E-M1 compact system camera. Version 4.0 will add a new focus stacking mode, optical viewfinder simulation, a focus bracketing mode synchronised PCM audio recording with movie capture, and the ability to disable snapshot focus / MF Clutch from the menu. The company is also planning to release a similar firmware upgrade for its OM-D E-M5 Mark II camera adding, on top of these features, a new "Flat" Movie Exclusive Picture Mode. At the same time, Version 1.1 of Olympus Capture will be released to "meet demands from professionals," and the latest firmware update for M.Zuiko Pro and Premium lenses will also be issued to provide improved aprture drive for smooth exposure control even when shooting movies in situations with sudden changes in brightness. Sony today announced that user selectable compressed and uncompressed 14-bit-per-channel raw image capture will be featured in the new A7S II full-frame compact system camera. Additionally, they have announced plans to add this feature via firmware update to additional cameras, beginning with the recently introduced A7R II. Until now, Sony camera users have had to make do with raw files compressed using a lossy algorithm, leading to sub-optimal results (as compared with other manufacturers' cameras equipped with similar Sony sensors).

Panasonic have released a firmware upgrade for their Lumix GH4 compact system camera. Version 2.3 brings the following improvements to the camera.
- "Activation function" is added in the menu which enables the camera to comply with "V-Log L" function by using Upgrade Software Key "DMW-SFU1".

The Sony A7S II is a 12.2-megapixel full-frame compact system camera with 4K video recording, enhanced auto-focus and a silent image capture mode that can be activated for 5fps continuous shooting. Additionally, the Sony α7S II features the world’s highest viewfinder magnification (0.78x with a normal prime focused at infinity) among all full-frame digital cameras. The AF system now offers 169 AF points for fast, precise focusing with greater accuracy, down to light levels as low as EV -4. To combat motion blur resulting from shaky hands, the α7S II is equipped with the same 5-axis image stabilisation system as the Sony α7 II and α7R II cameras. These photographers and cinematographers will host workshops across Europe and have their work, captured on Lumix cameras, displayed at the Panasonic Lumix Ambassador website.

At IFA 2015, Panasonic are showcasing the Lumix GH4R, an advanced version of the existing GH4 compact system camera. The photo/video hybrid now offers unlimited 4K recording (Cinema 4K: 4096x2160 / 24 fps and QFHD 4K: 3840x2160 / up to 30 fps in MOV/MP4) and V-Log L video capability. Taking full advantage of the Panasonic GH4R’s Four Thirds sensor, V-Log L boasts log characteristics with 12 stops, allowing videographers to capture the darkest scenes and avoid ‘bleaching out’ details in very bright environments. V-Log L is also available to existing GH4 users, via a paid software upgrade. By purchasing the DMW-SFU1 Upgrade Software Key and updating the camera’s firmware to version 2.3, users of the original GH4 can also enjoy the benefits of V-Log L functionality for a one off cost of £79. The company's third CSC has an 24.2 megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor, DIGIC 6 processor, a touch-screen interface, Hybrid CMOS AF III and 49-point AF System, Full 1080p HD Movie mode, ISO 100-12800, a 3-inch 1,040,000-dot LCD monitor that tilts up 180 degrees and down 45 degrees, integrated Wi-Fi and NFC connectivity, 4.2fps burst shooting, 14-bit RAW support, built-in pop-up flash and a flash hot-shoe. The Canon EOS M3 will go on sale in the US in early October for an estimated retail price of $679.99. The Olympus OM-D E-M10 Mark II is a new compact system camera with a 5-axis image stabilisation system, a brand new 4K time-lapse movie mode, and a large real-time EVF featuring a resolution of 2.36 million dots and 100% frame coverage. It also boasts an electronic shutter with a top shutter speed of 1/16,000 sec, plus a new AF Targeting Pad function that works similarly to Panasonic's venerable Touch Pad AF.
