DCResource have published a review of the Sony DSC-W7, a 7 megapixel digital camera with a 2.5 inch LCD screen, battery life of 380 shots between power charges and 32 megabytes of internal memory.
“The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W7 is a very capable 7.2 Megapixel camera. It offers very good image quality, robust performance, limited manual controls, support for conversion lenses, excellent battery life, and a nice movie mode. The DSC-W7 is a fairly compact camera that probably won’t fit in your back pocket, but it’s still small enough to take just about anywhere. The body is made almost entirely of metal, and it feels very solid. The controls are well-placed and it’s easy to operate. The W7 has a redesigned 2.5” LCD display that’s both easy to see in bright outdoor light as well as dimly lit rooms.”

CNET have published their review of the 5 megapixel Sony Cyber-shot DSC-M1 digital camera.
“At the unveiling of the eye-catching Sony Cyber Shot DSC-M1 in the fall of 2004, it promised hybrid still and video performance to accompany its futuristic, quirky design. We found that the M1 delivers on most counts, delivering decent 5-megapixel images, a solid snapshot feature set with some novel additions, and a video mode that’s impressive as long as you can afford the high-capacity Memory Stick Duo Pro media. Indeed, the Sony M1 has two major pluses that separate it from the hybrid pack: superior performance for a point-and-shoot camera and MPEG-4 movie quality that tops any we’ve seen from a competitor. On the minus side, Sony burdens the device with subpar software.”

Photobird.com have posted their review of the 4 megapixel Canon PowerShot A85.
“The Canon PowerShot A85 takes excellent photos, as you can see in the unretouched photos on the left of the southeastern coast of the Hawaiian island of Oahu. Most people should be very pleased with the quality of the photos. The Canon PowerShot A85 will work well for all but the most professional photos needed. This camera will definitely work well for casual photo takers, for vacations, family events, and other situations that don’t require professional results.”

DIWA member Steves Digicams have just reviewed the new Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ4 digital camera, which has 4 megapixels and a 12x image stabilized Leica lens.
“The overall image quality when using 4-megapixel Fine mode was good. Its Auto white balance setting worked well in a variety of conditions, with fine-tunable presets available for typical lighting conditions (sunny, cloudy, incandescent, fluorescent, etc.) and a custom manual setting. Outdoors the exposure system produced well-saturated and properly exposed images, although the FZ4 had a tendency to underexpose our beach samples. Both outdoor and indoors images showed colors that were very true to the original scene. At ISO 64 noise is absent, at ISO 100 and 200 it is detectable in shadow areas, and at ISO 400 noise is noticeable in shadows and detectable in highlight areas.”

PCMagazine have posted their review of the Epson RD-1 digital rangefinder camera.
“We were disappointed with the daylight still-life test image, which was underexposed and had an orange cast. The image did have strong saturation and good contrast, but experimenting at different f-stops produced some negative results. For example, when we opened the camera up to f/1.7, the image displayed some dreadful halos around parts of the still life. We also tested the camera at different ISO equivalencies and found images to be quite noisy at ISO 1600. Additionally, we wish the camera had lower ISO settings of 100 or 50..”

TrustedReviews have published their review of the 3 megapixel Canon PowerShot A510 digital camera.
“As you can see from the accompanying sample pictures, focusing, exposure and colour fidelity are all superb. In default mode there is some evidence of over-sharpening, but there is a low-sharpening option in the menu. There is some purple fringing, but whether by good design or good fortune the fringes appear on the upward edge of bright highlights, so the lines that often appear along roof ridges are effectively hidden.”

PCMagazine have published their review of the 3 megapixel Canon PowerShot A510 digital camera.
“The 3.2-megapixel Canon PowerShot A510, which was released in tandem with the 4MP PowerShot A520, is a replacement for the PowerShot A75. It is smaller and lighter than its predecessor, and is identical to the A520 except for its smaller image sensor. Overall, the picture quality is good, but the camera suffers from some of the same flaws as its higher-resolution sibling, especially in the speed department. But the A510 offers excellent flexibility and control for a modest price, making it a good value for those who don’t need a whole lot of extra pixels.”

DCResource have reviewed the new Casio Exilim Pro EX-P505, which features a 5X optical zoom, an imaging CCD with 5.0 megapixels, Casio’s “EXILIM engine”, and a large 2-inch TFT color rotating screen.
“The P505 is a fairly compact camera with a 5X zoom lens. The build quality leaves much to be desired, though. The body is made almost entirely of plastic and it feels very “cheap” in your hands. The mode dial and the battery/memory card slot cover are especially flimsy. Still, the camera is very light and it can be used easily with just one hand. The lens is self-contained so it never extends out of the body. That means that you can use it while recording movies! The camera has a 2-inch LCD display that can flip out to the side and rotate—which is handy—though there’s no optical viewfinder to be found.”
