Olympus C-55 ZoomSteves Digicams have posted their review of the new 5 megapixel Olympus C-5500 Sport Zoom digital camera (called the C-55 Sports Zoom in the rest of the world).

“The 5x optical zoom lens covers a 35mm equivalent range of 38 - 190mm. This offers flexibility in composing your shots as well as adding to the overall fun factor of the camera. It produces sharp results throughout its range with moderate barrel distortion present at its wide angle extreme, but almost no pin cushioning at full telephoto. The autofocus systems works quickly and has few problems focusing in low-ambient lighting thanks to an onboard AF-assist lamp.”

Canon PowerShot A520Imaging Resource have published their review of the 4 megapixel Canon PowerShot A520 digital camera.

“Looking at prints from the Canon PowerShot A520, we found that its output looked great at print sizes up to about 11x14 inches. (13x19 prints of its photos would probably be entirely suitable for hanging on a wall, but looked a little soft when we got up close to them.) When it came to high-ISO images, we found that the A520’s shots captured at ISO 400 did indeed look pretty rough when printed at 8x10. They looked a lot better at 5x7 though, and entirely acceptable when printed at 4x6 size. All in all, very nice-looking photos from an attractively priced, easy to use digital camera.”

Olympus C-7070 Wide ZoomDCResource have just reviewed the new 7 megapixel Olympus C-7070 Wide Zoom, which was announced at the CES show back in January.

” There’s a whole lot to like about the Olympus C-7070 Wide Zoom, and only a few things that you won’t care for. The C-7070WZ isn’t just another 7 Megapixel camera; this one features an ultra wide-angle lens starting at 27 mm. Unlike the Coolpix 8400 (which starts a little wider, at 24 mm), the C-7070 has some decent telephoto power, with a top end of 110 mm. If that’s not enough for you, Olympus offers your choice of conversion lenses, which can reduce the focal length to 18.9, or increase it to a whopping 330 mm. The expandability doesn’t stop there, though. The camera also supports 40.5 mm filters (without the need for a conversion lens adapter), an external flash, a power battery grip, and an underwater case.”

Epson L-500VPocket Lint have published their review of the 5 megapixel Epson L-500V digital camera.

“The Epson L-500V is great easy to use compact model that boasts enough resolution and image quality for prints up to A4 and over. The large screen is not unique on such digital cameras, but the high-resolution Photo Fine technology is a standout feature and helps make the camera joy to use. Basic control options take some of the gloss off, but anyone looking for a neat point-and-shoot digital camera would do far worse than having a closer look at this little beauty.”

Konica Minolta DiMAGE Z20Trusted Reviews have just posted their review of the new Konica Minolta Z5 digital camera.

“In terms of performance, the Z5 matches up to the best. It starts up in just under two seconds, and in single-shot mode at the highest resolution and quality setting, shot-to-shot time is approximately 2.5 seconds, which while not exceptional is far from slow. If that’s not fast enough, the Z5 has a special ‘Progressive’ mode for capturing fast-moving action. Press the shutter button down and hold it, and the camera starts shooting at a machine-gun like 10 frames per second, and keeps this up until you release the button. At that point, the last 20 shots in the sequence are recorded. This way you are almost certain to get a good action shot.”

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-L1CNET have today published their review of the 4 megapixel Sony Cyber-shot DSC-L1.

“Casual photographers will like the compact design, above-average performance, and long battery life of Sony’s Cyber Shot DSC-L1, along with the extrawide view offered by its 32mm-to-96mm (35mm-camera equivalent) 3X Carl Zeiss zoom lens. However, mediocre image quality, a tiny 1.5-inch LCD viewfinder that’s difficult to use, and a lack of even basic manual-exposure controls (other than exposure compensation) put this pocketable camera securely in the nonenthusiast snapshooting camp.”

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-P200Imaging Resource have posted their first impressions of the 7.2 megapixel Sony Cyber-shot DSC-P200 digital camera.

“In the case of the Sony P200, we found that it had plenty of resolution to make sharp-looking 13x19 prints, even with a little cropping. At the largest sizes, the loss of subtle detail caused by its anti-noise processing was visible in Marti’s hair and features, but we suspect that most consumers would find the resulting prints acceptable nonetheless. Subjects with strongly contrasting detail (things like tree branches against the sky) showed no loss of resolution, producing very sharp images even at 13x19. Looking at the high-ISO shots, images from the P200 captured at ISO 400 looked a little rough when printed at 8x10, but we felt that they were acceptable when examined at normal viewing distances. (10-12 inches or so) The ISO 400 image noise was essentially invisible in prints 5x7 and smaller. Color-wise, the P200’s images looked absolutely beautiful when printed on the i9900, lush and vibrant, yet very natural-looking.”
