Casio Japan has announced the Exilim EX-10, a raw-capable compact camera with a 1/1.7-type 12-megapixel sensor, 28-112mm (eq.) f/1.8-2.5 lens, an articulated screenm a dual-variable bracketing mode, built-in Wi-Fi and a magnesium alloy chassis. The dual-variable bracketing function allows the camera to shoot nine bracketed shots in rapid succession, varying two exposure variables. The Casio EX-10 will be launched on 29th November, at a price of approximately 80,000 yen.

Hasselblad has followed up the summer launch of Stellar, its second camera aimed at the amateur and enthusiast market, with the unveiling of three new 'Stellar Special Edition' compact cameras. The latest Stellar models offer photographers the choice of three new camera body colours: black, white and orange - and ship with bespoke camera cases in black or white leather with signature stitching and shoulder and wrist straps. Designed at Hasselblad's own Italy-based Design Centre, Stellar Special Edition models are now available with carbon fibre, padouk or wenge wood grips and cost €2,375 / £1,975 / $3,175 each.

Leica has announced a design variation of the Leica D-Lux 6 digital compact camera featuring a high-gloss, two-colour finish. The most striking feature of this newly designed finish is the combination of a silver lens and a high-gloss black camera body. Leica has also introduced a new addition to the range of accessories for the Leica D-Lux 6 - the Leica Soft Pouch in lambskin nappa leather. The suggested retail price for Leica D-Lux 6 is £600 and that of the new soft pouch is is £60. The Casio EX-ZR1000, EX-ZR800, EX-ZR750, EX-ZR710, EX-ZR700, EX-ZR410, EX-ZR400, EX-ZR310, EX-ZR300, EX-ZR200, EX-ZR20, EX-ZR15, EX-FC200S and EX-TR200 gain compatibility with FlashAir W-02 Class10 memory cards. The Casio EX-TR350, EX-TR300, EX-TR15 (pictured) and EX-TR10 benefit from improved microSD card reading. Registered owners of these cameras can download the firmware upgrades from the website below.

Leica has unveiled the first model of a new line of Leica digital compact cameras, the Leica C. The easily pocketable Leica C has a 1/1.7" MOS sensor with a resolution of 12 megapixels, and comes equipped with a fixed-mount, 28-200mm (eq.) f/2.0-5.9 lens and an integrated electronic viewfinder (EVF). Other highlights include Wi-Fi connectivity with Near Field Communications (NFC) and a programmable ring around the lens that makes it easy to manually control aperture, shutter speed and zoom. The Leica C will be available in the UK from authorised Leica dealers, starting mid-September 2013. The suggested retail price is £550 including VAT. Registered Leica C owners will be able to download a fully functional copy of Adobe Photoshop Lightroom free of charge.

Ricoh has launched the Ricoh Theta, a new product billed as the world’s first mass-produced imaging device that encapsulates fully spherical scenes with one shot. The hand-held Ricoh Theta features a proprietary ultra-small twin-lens folded optical system that captures the scene around, above and below the device in one shot for fully spherical images. Fitting easily in a pocket or the palm of a hand, the slim, lightweight Ricoh Theta  is synchronised with smartphones (currently only a couple of iPhone models, with Android support "expected before the end of the year"), where images can be immediately transmitted via Wi-Fi and viewed with a dedicated free app. Images uploaded to theta360.com can be shared on social networks. The suggested retail price is £329/$399.

Nikon has released half a dozen high-resolution sample images and a sample movie captured with the Nikon Coolpix P7800 professional compact camera. The Nikon P7800 is a new model that retains the headline specifications of its predecessor the P7700 and adds an eye-level electronic viewfinder. The six official Coolpix P7800 samples were all captured at  low sensitivity settings (ISO 80/20° and ISO 250/25°), using the lens at the 28mm, 58mm and 200mm equivalent settings. Whereas the sample photos are presented at the original resolution of 4000x3000 pixels, the sample movie has been downsized for the Web.
