The JVC GC-PX1 is a new digital camera that can shoot at 60 frames per second. Launching in Japan at the end of this month, the JVC PX1 has a 10x 38.5-385mm Konica Minolta lens, 10 megapixel back-illuminated CMOS sensor, a tilting, touchscreen 3 inch LCD, full 1080p HD video, over 6Gb of internal memory, ISO 6400 and full manual controls. Initial production is limited to 1,000 units per month, suggesting that the JVC GC-PX1 will, initially at least, only be available in Japan.

The Ricoh GXR Lens Mount Unit is a new interchangeable unit camera system that accepts Leica and other third-party lenses. The GXR Lens Mount Unit will feature a 12.9 megapixel, APS-C size CMOS sensor and a newly developed focal plane shutter. Release of the Ricoh GXR Lens Mount Unit is planned for the autumn of 2011, with a design mock-up on display at the CP+ show in Japan (Feb 9th-12th).

The Sony HX100V and HX9V are two new super-zoom compact cameras with Full HD video. The HX100V has a 30x optical zoom, while the HX9V has a shorter 16x lens. Both models offer 16.2 effective megapixel Exmor R sensors, full HD video at 50 progressive frames per second, GPS/Compass function, 3.0” 921,000-dot Extra Fine LCDs, 3D Sweep Panoramas and 3D Still Images. The new Intelligent Sweep Panorama HR (High Resolution) mode captures huge panoramic images with a 10480x4096 resolution, over 40million pixels. The Sony W520 features a 14.1 megapixel CCD sensor, 5x optical zoom lens with 25mm wide angle, a 2.7” LCD screen, Sweep Panorama and Intelligent AUTO. The Party-Shot IPT-DS2 is a new docking base that automatically shoots smiling, relaxed portraits of everyone in the room.

The Sony W520 will be available from March 2011. The Sony HX100V and HX9V will be available from April 2011 for about $450 and $350. UK pricing to be announced.

The Ricoh CX5 is a new 10 megapixel compact camera with a 10.7x, 28-30mm zoom lens. The Ricoh CX5 offers higher autofocus speed due to the use of Ricoh’s new hybrid AF system, with focusing times decreased to as low as 0.2 sec. The CX5 also allows recording of images with improved resolution using the “Super-resolution” setting, and telephoto shooting at up to 600mm equivalent using the Super-resolution Zoom. The Ricoh CX5 will be available in black, silver, and pink for £259.99 from the end of February in the UK, and $399 from February 10th in the US.

The Rollei Sportsline 60 is a new inexpensive waterproof digital camera. The 5 megapixel Sportsline 60 is waterproof to three metres, has an unusual 64mm fixed lens, 2.5 inch LCD screen and can record HD video. The Rollei Sportsline 60 will be available for a recommended retail price of EUR 79.95.

The Panasonic DMC-TZ20 and DMC-TZ18 are two new travel-zoom compact cameras. The TZ20 and TZ18 (also known as the Panasonic ZS10 and ZS8) both offer a 16x optical zoom lens, 14.1 megapixel MOS sensor, 3 inch LCD screen, HD movies, and manual controls. The TZ20 additionally offers a higher-resolution 460,000-dot touchscreen, full 1080i HD movies, a 3D Photo mode, and an improved GPS system. Pricing and availability of the DMC-TZ20 and DMC-TZ18 are still to be announced.

The Panasonic DMC-FX77 is a new stylish and compact hybrid digital camera. The FX77 (also known as the Panasonic FX78) features Smart Touch operation on a 3.5-inch LCD screen, 24mm ultra wide angle 5x optical zoom lens with F2.5 brightness, 12.1-megapixel Hi-Speed CCD sensor, 1920 x 1080 full-HD movie recording, 3D Photo Mode and 3.7 fps burst shooting. The price and availability of the Panasonic DMC-FX77 are still to be announced.

The Panasonic DMC-FT3 is a new rugged digital compact camera. The 12.1 megapixel FT3 (also known as the Panasonic TS3) is waterproof to 12m, shockproof to 2m, freezeproof to -10 degrees C and dustproof. The FT3 also has a 4.6, 28mm wide-angle zoom lens, 1920 x 1080 full-HD movie recording, 3D photo Mode, GPS functionality, a compass, altimeter and even a barometer. The price and availability of the Panasonic DMC-FT3 are still to be announced.

The Samsung ST6500 is a stylish new digital camera with a curved design. The body of the ST6500 is curved around the lens and angled at 7 degrees to make for a more ergonomic fit. The ST6500 also comes equipped with a 16-megapixel sensor, 5x zoom lens, new Smart Touch 3.0 User Interface, 3.0 inch LCD touch screen, and the intelligent Smart Auto feature which automatically adjusts the camera’s settings. The Samsung ST6500 will be available in March for $229.

The Samsung ST95, ST90 and ST65 are three new ultra-slim, stylish digital compact cameras. The ST95, ST90 and ST65 measure 16.5mm (ST90) or 17mm (ST95 and ST65) thick, include a 26mm wide lens on the ST95 and ST90, and a 27mm wide lens on the ST65 plus a 5x optical zoom lens, and boast 16 megapixels for the ST95 and 14 megapixels for the ST90 and ST65. The Samsung ST95, ST90 and ST65 will be available in February for $199.99 / $149.99 / $129.99 respectively.

The Samsung ST30 is a new ultra compact camera. The 10.1-megapixel ST30 Smart Auto focus, an internal battery charging system, a 28mm lens and 3x power optical zoom, all contained within the camera’s fun-sized body. The Samsung St30 will be available in March for $99.99.

Nikon will soon start selling the Nikon Coolpix S8100 in Europe and South Africa. Introduced in the US in September 2010, the 12-megapixel Nikon Coolpix S8100 is a 10x zoom digital compact camera that can capture photos at up to 10 frames per second. Equipped with a back-illuminated CMOS sensor and a 30-300mm equivalent zoom lens that can be used even while recording 1080p Full HD videos, the Nikon Coolpix S8100 also features in-camera HDR imaging, whereby several different exposures are taken in rapid succession, to be immediately blended in-camera for a single HDR photo rich in tonal gradations. Additionally, the S8100’s advanced Night Landscape mode combines a series of five consecutive shots taken at a fast shutter speed into a single image with reduced noise for handheld night photography. Pricing to be confirmed (the Coolpix S8100 currently retails for $220-$300 in the USA, with the typical price hovering around $270). In the UK, the red and black versions of the camera will be exclusive to Jessops.

The Olympus XZ-1 is a new flagship compact digital camera. Targeted at amateurs and professional photographers looking for a second camera, the XZ1 features a 10 megapixel 1/1.63 inch CCD sensor, fast f/1.8-2.5, 4x wide-angle i.ZUIKO DIGITAL lens, 3-inch OLED screen and 720p HD movies. To further boost the quality of stills and movies, users can add an external flash, electronic viewfinder or external stereo microphone, with more accessories still to come. The Olympus SP-610UZ is a new ultra-zoom digital camera. Sporting a 22x, 28mm-616mm zoom lens, the SP610UZ features a 14 megapixel sensor, 720p HD Movie recording, 3 inch LCD screen, Dual Image Stabilisation, and Eye-Fi Card compatibility. The Olympus SP-610UZ is available in black for £180 / €189 from February 2011.

The Olympus TG-610 and TG-310 are two new tough digital compact cameras. Waterproof, shockproof and freezeproof, the TG610 and TG310 can shoot 14 megapixel still photos with the dramatic realism of 3D, have 5x and 3x zooms respectively, and feature Eye-Fi card compatibility. The TG-610 also comes with automatic Underwater Snapshot Mode and a large, 920,000 dot, high-resolution HyperCrystal III LCD. The Olympus TG-610 is available in silver, black, blue and red for £250 / €249, and the Olympus TG-310 in silver, blue, red, white and orange for £200 / €199, both available from February 2011.

The Olympus VR-310 is a high specification compact camera with a low price. The VR310 offers a 10x super wide 24-240mm zoom lens, 14 megapixel sensor, 720p HD movies, 3 inch LCD screen and Dual Image Stabilisation. The Olympus VR-310 is available in silver, black, red and purple for £130 / €129 from January 2011.

The Olympus VG-130 and VG-120 are two new entry-level digital compact cameras. Billed as the ideal all-rounders, the VG130 and VG120 both offer a 5x wide optical zoom, 14 megapixels, 3 inch LCD screen, instant Movie Rec button and Digital Image Stabilisation. The VG-130 also offers a full-metal body. The Olympus VG-130 is available in silver, black, red or pink for under £100 / €99, the VG-120 in silver, black, red or blue for under £100 / €89, both from mid-January 2011.

GE has introduced 7 new digital cameras - the DV1, X500, E1680W, E1450W, J1470S, A1456W and C1433. The GE DV1 is the first GE?branded handheld, HD digital video camera, available now in 5 bright colors for $129.99. The GE X500, GE E1680W and GE E1450W are new additions to the Power and Power Pro Series. The GE J1470S, GE A1456W and GE C1433 are new Smart Series cameras.

The Sony DSC-TX100V, DSC-TX10, DSC-HX7V, DSC-WX10, DSC-WX9 and DSC-WX7 cameras offer 3D still photos and Full HD videos. All four models feature a 16.2-megapixel sensor, 3D Still Image mode using only one lens and imager, and movies at 50i in 1080 AVCHD. The TX100V is the first Cyber-shot camera with a 3.5-inch OLED with touch screen. With a Sony G lens with 10x optical zoom in a compact camera body, the HX7V offers built-in GPS and Compass which records the location and direction of where photos were taken. The WX10 features a 7x, bright F2.4 24mm wide angle lens and high-speed linear focus, and the DSC-WX7 camera has a 5x 25mm wide angle lens. The TX10 is water-proof, shock-proof, dust-proof and freeze-proof. The Sony DSC-TX100V, DSC-TX10, DSC-HX7V, DSC-WX10, DSC-WX9 and DSC-WX7 will be available in a range of colours from March 2011.
