Nikon D90PhotoReview have reviewed the Nikon D90, the world’s first DSLR camera that shoots High Definition video.

“However, the D90’s video system is not perfect. Since video can only be recorded in Live View mode, you’re stuck with the restrictions that implies (see below). The sound is recorded monaurally and the video format is AVI which, although it’s compatible with most editing applications, consumes a huge amount of memory (roughly 400MB per minute). In our tests, a 24-second clip recorded in 1280 x 720 HD mode at 176 kbps was 42.7MB in size.”

Nikon D90DCResource have reviewed the Nikon D90, the world’s first DSLR camera that shoots High Definition video.

“In terms of photo quality, manual controls, performance, customizability, and yes, its movie mode, the D90 is a home run. There are a few annoyances, such as slow focusing in live view mode and horrible bundled RAW editing software, but the positives far outweigh the negatives. The D90 is a digital SLR that I can highly recommend, without hesitation.”

Nikon D300Tea Leaves have an interesting review of the Nikon D300, a 12.3 megapixel DSLR camera, from the point of view of a long-time Canon user.

“With no huge investment in quality glass, why shouldn’t I at least look at Nikon? “It’ll never work”, said Pete. “You’ve spent three years living, breathing, and thinking Canon. You can’t rewire your brain to a completely different user interface. You’ll hate it.” But I was curious to try the experiment anyway. I contacted Nikon, and they graciously agreed to loan Tea Leaves a Nikon D300 and a very nice lens. I’d like to tell you a bit about my experience.”

Nikon D700DigitalCameraInfo have reviewed the new Nikon D700, the second full-frame, FX-series DSLR camera from Nikon.

“Is it rational to call a $3000 camera a bargain? It is when it delivers nearly all the features of the company’s revered $5000 pro model, which is precisely the case with the Nikon D700. Basically the D700 takes the best parts of two established cameras and blends them seamlessly. The $5000 Nikon D3 contributes a full-frame image sensor with low-noise performance that makes previously impossible photos as simple as pressing the shutter. From the Nikon D300 comes a nearly unchanged body that’s hefty but nicely balanced, tightly sealed against the elements and nearly 20% lighter than the D3.”

Canon EOS 1000DDigitalCameraInfo have reviewed the Canon Digital Rebel XS, a new entry-level, 10 megapixel DSLR camera with Live View mode.

“It arrives into an already crowded marketplace, full of affordable, starter SLRs. The XS performed competently in most of our tests, and proved itself able to handle low light situations well, and boasting an impressive dynamic range. For an entry-level SLR, it would easily handle nighttime and indoor shooting well. At the same time it’s only barely cheaper than the Rebel XSi, and is more expensive than two of its major competitors, the Sony Alpha 200 and the Nikon D60. The former generally scored worse than the XS, but is significantly cheaper, and the latter offers roughly similar performance for a slightly lower price tag.”

Pentax K20DDCResource have just reviewed the new 14.6 megapixel Pentax K20D DSLR camera.

“The Pentax K20D is a very good digital SLR that offers the same resolution, build quality, and feature set of cameras costing hundreds of dollars more. Its highlights include a 14.6 Megapixel CMOS sensor, built-in image stabilization, and a weather-sealed, sturdy body. While the K20D needs work in certain areas, it’s a definite improvement over its predecessor, and a D-SLR that I can recommend. “

Canon EOS 1000DSteves Digicams have reviewed the Canon EOS Rebel XS, a new entry-level, 10 megapixel DSLR camera with Live View mode.

“The Rebel XS has the ability to produce beautiful photos, right out of the box. The vast majority of our outdoor photos showed excellent exposure, nice image sharpness (using standard Picture Style), and pleasing color saturation. The included Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS zoom is a great starter lens, offering about 3x magnification. While using this combo, I saw very little edge softness and only very moderate barrel distortion. I also found that there were no traces of purple fringing (aka Chromatic Aberrations) in any of our samples.”
