Mamiya ZD Digtial SLRPhoto District News have published the a brief hands-on review of the Mamiya ZD digital SLR, a 22 megapixel digital SLR that will cost around £8,000 body only.

“The Mamiya ZD, even in its current iteration is a powerful camera. Engineers in Japan will need to ensure that the image processing time is short enough to make the camera a viable option in the studio or in the field, but aside from the buffering times and the image-quality quirks of the early version firmware, the Mamiya ZD is already good to go.”

FujiFilm FinePix S3 ProCNET have just posted their review of the Fuji FinePix S3 Pro digital SLR.

“The Fujifilm FinePix S3 Pro digital SLR (dSLR) replaces the S2 Pro, which enjoyed some modest success among photographers who prized its image quality. Like its predecessor, the S3 Pro uses Nikon F-mount SLR lenses and a (debatably) 6-megapixel Fujifilm sensor. But the sensor, called a Super CCD SR II, is an all-new design that uses two photodetectors per pixel to deliver the widest dynamic range we’ve seen in a dSLR. The camera’s performance is mediocre, but if you hate blown-out highlights and love rich colors, the S3 Pro is worth a close look.”

Konica Minolta Dynax 7DBuy-n-Shoot have posted a brief review of the 6 megapixel Konica Minolta Dynax 7D digital SLR camera.

“On first impressions, the body looks and feels great. It’s built with a strong metal frame and has a combination of hard black plastic for a shell and rubber on the grip. It is well sized, a good working weight for balance and feels ergonomically good in the photographer’s hands. There is a big LCD (2.5 inches) for quick reviewing which for a pro body should be standard by all manufactures design briefs, and a brightly lit viewfinder. It’s worth noting that the Dynax 7D is one of only a few DSLR’s on the market with a 2.5 inch LCD.”

Olympus E-300Shutterbug Magazine have posted their review of the new 8 megapixel Olympus E-300 / Evolt DSLR.

” The Olympus E-300 EVOLT may not be the prettiest camera in the world, but it’s compact, convenient to use, quite fast, and reliable in most circumstances. In my estimation, it should appeal to first-time SLR buyers who appreciate its many Program modes. But this well-equipped model is even more suitable for the experienced digital photographer who does not already own autofocus lenses of some other brand. At a street price of $995, including the 14-45mm zoom, it’s definitely a bargain, especially when compared to the $1299 street price of the 5-megapixel E-1 kit.”

Canon EOS 350D Digital SLRDIWA member e-fotografija have published their review of the new 8 megapixel Canon EOS 350D / Digital Rebel XT DSLR.

“The EOS 350D is a camera that is a pleasure to use for hobby photographers. Unfortunately there is still no DSLR camera under 500EUR, I expect that to happen by the end of this year, so there’s no cheap alternative to upgrade to a higher class. Here’s something to remember. If you are an advanced photographer and shoot a lot of photos, the EOS 350D can only be a camera to step into the digital world or a back-up camera. Don’t think that the EOS 350D, despite many improvements over the EOS 300D, is in the same range as is the EOS 20D. The EOS 350D is much clumsier. Focusing, metering and speed of workflow are much better on the EOS 20D. It is just the same as is with film cameras.”

Canon EOS-1Ds Mark II Digital SLRPopular Photography claims that Canon’s 16 megapixel 1Ds Mark II digital SLR camera produces better image quality than ISO 100 film.

“I’d say it’s settled. ISO 100 color negative film may capture a bit more detail than the 1Ds Mark II under ideal lighting conditions, with a great lens, and on a supersteady tripod. But for its better color and lower noise, the “Color Image Quality” award goes to Canon’s $8,000 digital SLR. Seeing is believing…or is it vice-versa?”

Nikon D70Popular Photography have compared no less than 9 of the latest digital SLR cameras to find out which is the right one for you.

“DSLRs provide the most control over your pictures, the most flexibility to adapt to different shooting—and the most satisfaction. As enjoyable as digital compacts and EVFs may be, sooner or later you’re going to run into frustrating limitations. You need more lens reach. Or bright, clear, reflex viewing. Or more flash options. Or more control over the image quality and file size. Or higher image quality. These are what DSLRs give you.”

“There was a report in CNET on April 21 about the encryption being broken on the white balance metadata for RAW files in the Nikon Capture application, does Nikon plan to take any action against the programmer who broke your encryption code?

Wahi: Again, whatever information that we have available right now is available in the advisory, and I can make sure I can send that out to you.

Could we just talk about the business decision of Nikon encrypting its white balance metadata in the RAW files?
