Momentage is a new social media platform where users can integrate photos, videos and SoundImages "to showcase a more artistic expression of reality." To craft a moment, users can select and edit photos and videos, or shoot photos and record up to 20 seconds of video. Once photos and videos are selected to be in a 'moment,' users can rearrange them by dragging and dropping each piece of media into a different area of the layout. Moments can be made public for general viewing by anyone on the app, or shared privately with just one person or a select group of followers. Momentage is currently available for iPhone and can be downloaded from the App Store.

SmugMug has released an Android edition of its Camera Awesome app. The program offers a huge number of creative editing features, including hundreds of special effects, presets, filters and frames. In addition, there are numerous Android-specific features such as high-speed burst, panorama, and HDR photography, video image stabilisation, face recognition, manual ISO adjustment, multiple resolutions and selective editing. Brian Griffith has released Iridient Digital, an update to his photo editing software for Mac OS X. This edition adds support for raw image files produced by the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera, the Nokia Lumia 1020, the Nikon Df, the Olympus Stylus 1, the Pentax K-3, the Phase One IQ280, IQ260, IQ260 Achromatic, IQ160 and IQ140; and fixes bugs. Nikon has updated its Capture NX and View NX applications. Nikon View NX 2.8.2 adds support for the Nikon Df (pictured) and D5300. Capture NX 2.4.5 also adds compatibility with these cameras and incorporates the following changes:

Blackmagic Design  have released Blackmagic Camera 1.5 software which adds new 12-bit Log CinemaDNG raw recording to their Pocket Cinema Camera. Wide-dynamic-range raw recording allows users to capture the brightest highlights and the darkest shadows simultaneously, capturing more of the scene than is possible with a regular video camera. In addition, high-quality lossless CinemaDNG files are fully compatible with DaVinci Resolve 10 for seamless colour grading and editing workflows. Apple has issued a new Digital Camera Raw Compatibility Update to MacOS X Mavericks. Version 5.01 adds support for the following cameras to Aperture 3 and iPhoto '11: Canon PowerShot G16, Canon PowerShot S120, Fujifilm X-A1, Nikon Coolpix P7800 (pictured), Nikon D610, Olympus Pen Lite E-PL6, Panasonic LUMIX DMC-GX7, Panasonic Lumix DMC-LF1, Sony Alpha A3000 ILCE-3000 and Sony Alpha NEX-5T.

Lytro announced today Lytro 3D, a collection of features that enable pictures which have been processed for Perspective Shift to be viewed in 3D. With the release today of Lytro Desktop 3.1 for Mac and Windows available for download at Lytro.com and Lytro Mobile 1.2 for iOS, Lytro images can be viewed in Presentation Mode as 3D images and, by connecting to a 3D-capable TV over HDMI or Apple AirPlay, the 3D experience "can be extended to the living room for everyone to enjoy," the company says. “The beauty and power of Light Field technology is that we are able to continue to expand on how living pictures are experienced, first with Perspective Shift and now 3D,” said Jason Rosenthal, CEO, Lytro. “Lytro remains committed to delivering new ways to make visual storytelling more immersive and engaging through innovative software and hardware.”

Adobe has posted Lightroom 5.3 and Adobe Camera Raw (ACR) 8.3 as "release candidates." These updates add full or preliminary support for fifteen new cameras and digital backs including the Canon PowerShot S120, the Fujifilm XQ1 and X-E2, the Nikon 1 AW1, D5300, D610 and Coolpix P7800, the Olympus OM-D E-M1 and Stylus 1, the Panasonic Lumix DMC-GM1, the Phase One IQ260 and IQ280, the Sony A7, A7R and RX10. Additionally, they contain new profiles for one Canon, four Nikon, one Sigma and two Sony lenses.

Blackmagic Design has released DaVinci Resolve 10, available now for download free of charge for all existing DaVinci Resolve customers. This edition is a major upgrade that includes innovative on set tools, new editing features, support for OpenFX plug-ins and more. New editing features include full multi track editing with 16 channels of audio per clip and unlimited video and audio tracks in the timeline. Other new editing features include extensive ripple, roll, slide and slip clip trimming support which display dynamically on the timeline and viewer. Colour correction features have been upgraded in DaVinci Resolve 10, including support for industry standard OpenFX plug ins with an unlimited number of plug ins per clip. There are now unlimited power windows per corrector node and the new Gradient PowerWindow lets colorists quickly add a gradient across the image.

DxO Labs have just released DxO Optics Pro 9.0.1 which adds supports the new Nikon Coolpix P7800 and Nikon D610. In addition, DxO Optics Pro v9.0.1 benefits from 250 new DxO Optics Modules, which contain copious information about the characteristics of each camera and lens, allowing the application  to automatically correct distortion, vignetting, chromatic aberrations, and lens softness.

Bits&Coffee has released VideoStory 2.0, a free iOS app designed to create photo slideshows with video transitions and music. Custom-built for Instagram Video, version 2.0 allows users to use VideoStory to create a unique and engaging video story with photos and music, tailor made for sharing on Instagram. VideoStory 2.0  has both a free (with in-app purchases) and a Pro version ($0.99). It's a universal iOS app that runs on iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch with support for iOS version 5, 6, and 7.

Adobe has released major new updates to the video apps in Adobe Creative Cloud, including new capabilities in Adobe Premiere Pro CC, Adobe After Effects CC, Adobe SpeedGrade CC, Adobe Prelude CC, Adobe Media Encoder CC and Adobe Story CC Plus. Today’s updates, which were initially previewed in September , include a direct link colour pipeline between Adobe Premiere Pro CC and Adobe SpeedGrade CC, expanded native support for brilliant visuals including 4K high frame rate content, a new mask tracker in Adobe After Effects, the Adobe Prelude CC Live Logger iPad app and many other feature enhancements. Current Adobe Creative Cloud members receive all of these innovations as part of their existing membership at no extra cost.

Akvis has released Version 4.0 of Akvis HDRFactory, an application that creates HDR images from a series of photographs taken at different exposures. This update adds a Share option that lets users upload HDR images to the social services directly from the app, fixes bugs, adds support for raw images from a variety of new cameras, changes the installation process for Windows and adds compatibility with Mac OS X 10.9 Mavericks. The plug-in variant now supports Adobe Photoshop CC, Adobe Photoshop Elements 12, and Corel PaintShop Pro X6. The new upgrade is free for registered users.

Via its official blog, SmugMug has announced that it has teamed up with Apple to provide full integration with Aperture. "You can now connect and sync your SmugMug account with your account in Aperture and easily browse, upload, download and organize all from one app," the company says. "Aperture will sync down all of your SmugMug images even if they didn’t previously exist in your Aperture library. Best of all, images shared from Aperture stay synced, so if you share an image to SmugMug and then make further edits to it in Aperture, those edits will sync up to SmugMug without having to re-Share (upload) the image."

DxO Labs have released DxO Perspective for Mac OS X, an application designed to correct perspective and horizon problems. In architectural or urban photography, depending on the position of the photographer with respect to the scene, buildings’ vertical and horizontal lines can lose their parallelism. DxO Perspective corrects all kinds of perspective problems, and  restores balance and authenticity to landscape photos by perfectly straightening a slanted horizon. DxO Perspective for Mac OS X is immediately and exclusively available in the Mac App Store. The software is free through  3rd November.

LaserSoft Imaging has released an individually adapted version of SilverFast 8 for Canon's new CanoScan 9000F Mark II scanner. SilverFast offers a Multi-Exposure feature that increases the number of greyscale values detected by the scanner from 1.379 to 9.550. The software's NegaFix module stores more than 120 negative film profiles helping users get a correct colour rendition when scanning negatives. For transparencies, SilverFast's premium Ai Studio 8 and Archive Suite 8 versions offer automatic IT8-calibration, which allows to calibrate the Canon 9000F Mark II with a single mouse click.

Websiteam has released Portrait Lens, a photo manipulation app for Android 2.3 and higher. The application uses a special algorithm to blur backgrounds and provide better subject isolation. If necessary, you can adjust settings such as sharpness, blurring and saturation separately for the background and your subject. You can save the output photo at a resolution of up to three megapixels. Portrait Lens is now available on Google Play.

Brian Griffith has released Iridient Developer 2.3.1, an update to his photo editing software for Mac OS X. This upgrade adds raw file support for ten new cameras, improved handling of decimal number entry in text fields (commas, periods and native localised decimal separators are all now accepted for decimal separators regardless of your system locale or system preference settings) and a bug fix for a couple of the Fujifilm X20 auto dynamic range modes.  Iridient Developer 2.3.1 can now be downloaded from the website below.
