Adobe has released Adobe Photoshop Touch 1.4, which brings optimisation for 7-inch tablet displays including the iPad Mini and Google Nexus 7. Other new features include support for three pressure-sensitive styli for iPad, new ways to share completed projects to Facebook and Twitter, additional effects like Lens Flare and Stamp Pattern, smoother brush strokes and a new colour selection workflow. CamRanger from Intro2020 is a stand-alone device that connects to select Canon or Nikon DLSR cameras with a provided USB cable to create an ad-hoc Wi-Fi network that your iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch can then connect to. ArcSoft has released the “Whip Social Album” mobile application. The free app allows users to quickly create and share photo albums, using customised templates. Whip allows users to choose up to 24 photos for each album. Once the photos are selected, the album is automatically generated with just one tap.  After that, users can select one of nine available templates that include background music from “indie” bands, and offer the opportunity to caption and edit each photo. Additionally, ArcSoft’s proprietary image editing technology built into Whip enables users to enhance their photos in a number of ways. Nikon Europe has posted an announcement on the compatibility of its software products with Microsoft’s new Windows 8 operating system. The company intends to test Windows versions of ViewNX 2, Capture NX 2, Camera Control Pro 2, Short Movie Creator, Nikon Message Center 2, Wireless Transmitter Utility and Thumbnail Selector as well as its NEF and NRW codecs, PC-PJ Transfer and GP-N100 Utility, IPTC Preset Manager and Nik Software’s Color Efex Pro 3.0 for compatibility with the new OS. However, there’s a number of applications for which the company does not plan to provide Windows 8 compatibility. Happiness Engines have launched Colorized, a “social sketching” app for the iPhone. Colorized lets users snap a picture with their phone and then convert it into a pencil sketch. “Colorized helps turn that creative vision into a sharable sketch – to post to Facebook or Twitter, or to just share through the app itself in the stream of the community’s doodling,” the company says. “Colorized is the modern, social way to doodle.
