GE have launched seven new digital cameras in the UK and Europe. The new models are - GE E1050, GE E1235, GE A840s, GE G2, GE E1035, GE A835, GE A735. The flagship E1050 model features a 3 inch touch-screen, HDMI connectivity 5x optical wide angle zoom and 10 megapixel sensor. Speaking at the launch, European Director Gary Banks said: “Our digital cameras represent an extension of GE’s 128-year heritage of leadership in technology and innovation. Our research and development team in Tokyo have done a magnificent job to ensure the consumer will get intuitive, easy to use cameras which all offer advanced features as standard.” The initial GE UK range includes seven different cameras, the first four due to be on shelves by March, with additional models anticipated for Summer/Autumn 2008.

GE launches digital camera range in UK

General Electric Co. (GE), one of the world’s largest and most admired companies, today launched a new digital camera range, marking its entry into the UK and European consumer electronics markets.

General Imaging, the company selected by GE as the exclusive licensee to design, manufacture and distribute the cameras, launched the brand at London’s Oxo Tower this morning. The European move follows a successful launch of GE digital cameras by General Imaging in the United States last year.

Speaking at the launch, European Director Gary Banks said: “Our digital cameras represent an extension of GE’s 128-year heritage of leadership in technology and innovation. Our research and development team in Tokyo have done a magnificent job to ensure the consumer will get intuitive, easy to use cameras which all offer advanced features as standard.”

The initial UK range includes seven different cameras, the first four due to be on shelves by March. New models are anticipated for Summer/Autumn 2008. Alongside black, silver and red, a rainbow of colours is planned including pinks, purples, yellow and green.

GE digital cameras are packed full of useful, fun features. Each camera has easy to use in camera panoramic stitching, which guides the user through creating a three-frame panorama; great for both landscapes and groups of friends. It eliminates the need for specialist computer software or hours of editing, which is perfect for people who want to share photos quickly and post them on sites like Facebook and Flickr.

The cameras will also incorporate newly developed technology for smile and blink detection, which has been built into the standard face detection feature. The top of the range model – the E1050 – will be the first compact digital to incorporate HDMI technology.
