Kodak Updates Film Portfolio with Enhancements to Consumer and Professional Films

New Enhancements to KODAK MAX Versatility 400-Speed Film and KODAK PROFESSIONAL PORTRA Film Deliver Outstanding Color Quality and Picture Clarity

ORLANDO, Fla., Feb. 20—Eastman Kodak Company today announced enhancements to its consumer and professional film portfolios. Delivering on primary consumer needs the enhanced KODAK MAX Versatility is now the world’s most versatile 400-speed film available and gives consumers better pictures in a wider variety of lighting conditions. Improved KODAK PROFESSIONAL PORTRA film is now better suited for digital scanning, further enhancing the capabilities of Kodak’s industry-renowned PORTRA film family.

The product enhancements build upon the success of other KODAK premium film platforms recently introduced—KODAK Plus Digital, KODAK High Definition, KODAK MAX Versatility Plus and KODAK PROFESSIONAL ULTRA COLOR films.

“Kodak continues to deliver innovative products for everyday picture takers, advanced amateurs and professionals who are frequent users of traditional film products,” said Candy Obourn, general manager, Film Capture, Digital & Film Imaging Systems; and senior vice president, Eastman Kodak Company. “In 2005, Kodak will deliver feature-rich products with exciting benefits, including superior versatility under a wide range of lighting conditions and better scanning capabilities—all which help drive revenue for our retail partners.”

The World’s Most Versatile 400-Speed Film
Kodak unveiled a number of emulsion improvements to KODAK MAX Versatility 400-speed film, adding more flexibility for clearer, sharper pictures in underexposed situations, such as low-light and extended flash range conditions. In consumer research, versatility has repeatedly been identified as the number one consumer need from film.

Kodak research has shown that people want a film that provides very clear, sharp pictures, plus delivers accurate skin tones. KODAK MAX Versatility exhibits consistently bright, vibrant pictures across a wide range of lighting conditions and accurate skin-tone reproduction for natural looking “people pictures.”

KODAK MAX Versatility film provides the best skin tone reproduction, fastest speed, widest latitude, and is unsurpassed in sharpness and color among 400-speed consumer films, making it the world’s most versatile 400-speed film available to consumers.

The suggested retail price for Kodak MAX Versatility 400 Film is US$8.99 - US$9.99 MSRP for a four-pack, varying by retailer. This film will begin to ship in the second quarter of 2005 and will available on a stock turnover basis throughout the year.

Enhancements to KODAK PROFESSIONAL PORTRA Film
Enhanced KODAK PROFESSIONAL PORTRA film, part of the highly respected KODAK PROFESSIONAL film portfolio, features an improved surface coating technology that delivers increased performance with KODAK DIGITAL ICE technology and improved scanning with specular light. The new overcoat technology maintains the excellent scratch resistance of PORTRA films. This improvement applies to 120/220 (medium format) and sheet format films across the entire PORTRA film family, including 160 and 400-speed NC (natural color) and VC (vivid color) PORTRA films.

“These improvements reinforce Kodak’s history of giving professional photographers the tools they need to craft their signature look and style,” said Obourn. “In today’s image-intensive world, photographers have unique needs. Kodak has designed the PORTRA family around what they want — beautiful color, natural skin tones and fine grain for scanning to digital files.”

KODAK PROFESSIONAL PORTRA film’s unique T-GRAIN® emulsion technology delivers smooth, natural reproduction of the full range of flesh tones, plus exceptional color saturation. PORTRA color negative films, supported by single channel printing technology, are designed to give photographers consistent results across all speeds and formats.
