Photographer/Editor Dean Brierly’s, A Darker Sun, an interactive eBook published by TNM Digital Media

LOS ANGELES (July 1, 2013) – TNM Digital media announces the release of the fine art photography eBook A Darker Sun (www.adarkersun.com) from photographer/editor Dean Brierly.   The interactive eBook is the first to be published by the newly formed publishing company, TNM Digital Media LLC, and is available today in the Apple iBookstore (https://itunes.apple.com/us/book/a-darker-sun/id671002381?mt=11).

The interactive photography book is priced at $5.99 (£4.99 / 5,49 €)

Carol McCusker, Curator of Photography, Harn Museum of Art at the University of Florida,  offers this description of Brierly’s photographs in A Darker Sun: “Balanced between abstraction and representation, the subconscious and the urban zeitgeist, they reflect a photographer and historian of 20th century art, cinema, literature and music, who manifests, in richly textured visual shorthand, a carnivorous curiosity and intelligence.”

Brierly’s images are created in an analog darkroom through a labor-intensive process utilizing multiple negatives and duotone solarization. “Darkroom manipulation gives my work an organic integrity,” says Brierly in the essay found inside the new digital book. “I have a belief that a successful image shouldn’t come too easily. You should have to work for it.”

A Darker Sun’s author, Brierly is the editor of the fine art photography magazine Black & White. He was previously the managing editor of Camera & Darkroom magazine and the co-creator and editorial director of PhotoWork magazine.

The publisher of the new eBook, TNM Digital Media, is a new digital publishing start-up that will be producing interactive eBooks and digital magazines.

(Dean Brierly and Douglas Hebbard are available for interviews upon request.)
