PhoTags Inc., Receives US Patent Number 6,888,569 For Active Captions Technology

Garden City, NY, May 20, 2005 -  PhoTags Inc., the portable infoimaging company, is pleased to announce that it has been awarded U.S. Patent Number 6,888,569 for its Active Captions Technology. Active Captions allows anyone to add viewable, non-destructible text and object to a standard JPEG file.

The technology utilizes MARKERS allocated by the JPEG format to store any type of metadata inside the photo including text, sound, frames and other media elements. An unlimited number of “messages” can be stored in each file.

Active Captions creates “virtual layers” on a JPEG photo allowing the “messages/captions” to:
- Be displayed anywhere on the photo in any size, font or color
- Exported to other devices in the proper resolution and reduced file size
- Exported to and imported from other file formats with proprietary formats
- Printed or ignored based on the user’s or operator’s preferences
