Addonics Announces First CFast Adapter to Support CFast Media

SAN JOSE, CA, JANUARY 13, 2010—Addonics Technologies (www.addonics.com) today announced a new eSATAp CFast Memory Adapter, which is designed as a solution for connecting any CFast media to eSATA or the new eSATA USB hybrid port. It is believed to be the first CFast adapter to support CFast media.

List price is $39.99.

The CFast Reader reads and writes to any CFast card through the eSATA port or the new eSATA USB 2.0 Hybrid port (EUHP). By using the optional Addonics eSATA USB adapter, the CFast media can also be accessed via the ubiquitous USB port found on many systems.

CFast is the latest Compact Flash media standard with native SATA interface to achieve much higher data throughput than the current CF standard. CFast cards are being used in numerous next generation products like digital SLR cameras and mini-notebooks.

The eSATA USB Hybrid port (EUHP) is a new port commonly found on new generations of notebook computers. This new port works with both standard eSATA and Hybrid eSATA power cable (eSATAp).

When connecting this CFast adapter to EUHP with the bundled eSATAp cable, the CFast adapter can get power and high speed eSATA data connections at the same time via a single cable.

Features of the Addonics’ adapter include support of SATA III standard, a maximum throughput of 600 MB/sec; and a mini USB port for USB power input when connecting to regular eSATA port. The unit is OS independent, which means no software driver is required. It weighs only 44 grams.
