London, 25 May 2012 –Manfrotto School of Xcellence, the educational platform by the world leader in the equipment and accessories industry for photography and imaging, is proud to host the renowned filmmaker and photographer Phil Coates, for a webinar devoted to “Adventure Film & Photography From Pole To Pole.”

During the hour long webinar, Phil will give the participants an extraordinary insight into the world of expedition and adventure that has characterized his fantastic career.

Phil Coates will share stories from a life behind the lens filming and photographing explorers and adventurers in some of the most remote and hostile parts of our planet. The webinar aims to analyze several important aspects of taking pictures in difficult and challenging situations and by doing so Phil will show a combination of beautiful images from his documentary series filmed for the BBC, Channel 4, Channel 5, Discovery Channel and National Geographic.

Phil Coates: is an accomplished remote location Director Cameraman, adventure photographer and professional expedition leader with an enviable record of working in extreme environments across seven continents. He has worked in extreme and challenging environments, from the very hot (°50/122°F) to the very cold (-40°C/-40°F) and the very high (up to an altitude of 8,000 meters).

His filming portfolio includes BBC2’s Blizzard Race To The Pole, Channel 5’s Ice Break Heart and Challenge 8000 for Yorkshire Tyne Tees and Channel 4. Most recently he was up Mt Everest, part of a team filming Discovery International’s Everest Beyond The Limit. He began his career in television production at BBC Science & Features in London, and then later moved to the BBC Natural History Unit in Bristol.
