Kickstarter phenomena merge to form time-lapse photography powerhouse

Merger brings two powerful time-lapse products under one roof

San Diego, August 18 2014 – Kickstarter success stories Alpine Labs and Vivo Labs have formally merged to better support the time-lapse photography community and make time-lapse photography accessible to photographers of all standards. The move will bring the wildly successful smartphone-programmable Michron and Radian time-lapse photography products together and combine the capabilities and staff members of the two organisations.

Following the merger, Alpine Labs plans to increase headcount and add more features through app and firmware updates. The larger organisation will also be able to increase its customer support options and make more tutorials to meet the needs of its rapidly expanding global user base.

“Everyone at Alpine Labs is very excited by the possibilities this merger will give us to better serve photographers interested in time-lapse photography,” said Greg Horvath, President of Alpine Labs. “Both Alpine Labs and Vivo Labs share a common mission to make time-lapse photography easy and accessible to photographers of all experience levels. The marketing and product development teams of both companies already know each other well, and this merger will enable us to unlock the full potential of those relationships.”

The high-end Radian enables professional photographers to take stunning motion time-lapses without the cost and hassle inherent in linear slider systems. The Michron provides an affordable entry point for enthusiast photographers into stationary time-lapse photography.

Both devices connect to the majority of DSLR and mirrorless cameras and are programmed by a simple smartphone interface that enables the user to walk away with their smartphone after programming. This leaves the user free to play with their smartphone while the camera captures the time-lapse footage.

Alpine Labs products have been used by BBC photographers in a number of wildlife documentaries as well as by renowned photographer Colin Delehanty while filming for Project Yosemite.
