ANIMALS UP CLOSE
Zoom in on the world’s most incredible creatures
by Igor Siwanowicz

“I try to photograph animals from their own perspective, which might mean getting down on my hands and knees in the dirt!  By getting up close, I hope to show you how much personality they have, and why they deserve to be admired, respected, and protected.”
—Igor Siwanowicz, in the Foreword to Animals Up Close

If you could be pint-sized like a pipistrelle bat, see eye-to-eye with a blowfly, or shrink down to the size of a crested gecko, you would encounter a magnificent miniature world full of strange body shapes, weird behavior, and surprising events in the lives of the very small.  Thanks to Igor Siwanowicz’s incredible macro-photography, you can do just that in Animals Up Close (April 2009; DK Publishing; HC; 96 pages; $16.99), an eye-popping collection of the world’s most intriguing creatures.
