Leaf RAW files now Aperture and iPhoto ready.
Apple has recently announced the latest Mac OS/X 10.4.9 update, which now supports the Leaf RAW files format.
There will now be full Leaf RAW support in Apple Aperture, Apple iPhoto and Apple Preview for the Aptus and some of the Valeo range. This latest development follows Adobe’s recent announcement that Leaf RAW files will be supported by the new Lightroom application.
This has been a direct result from Leaf’s ongoing coordinated efforts to help Apple support the Leaf format. To implement this feature, Apple received Leaf camera backs and direct assistance from the Leaf programming, marketing and application teams.
Peartree marketing manager Darius Gelich states “This is proof of the close and unique relationship Leaf have forged with both industry heavyweights Apple and Adobe. We are committed to providing professional photographers an open solution, raising barriers to give freedom of choice for digital workflow.”
This signifies the dawn of a new era in medium format photography as Leaf are the first to encourage third party software developers to support their RAW files. At this moment in time, Hasselblad, PhaseOne, Sinar and Mamiya cannot open and edit RAW files in Apple Aperture, Apple iPhoto or Apple Preview and only PhaseOne files can be opened in Lightroom.
