Architect’s Eye
To celebrate the London Festival of Architecture, Roca London Gallery and International Art Consultants (IAC) have united for an exclusive photography exhibition ‘Architect’s Eye’ in Chelsea, London.
From June 23rd, the Roca London Gallery will showcase the work of the 19 finalists and winners from the Architects’ Eye Competition 2011. The competition was launched in 2007 by IAC, Europe’s leading corporate art advisors, who developed the idea from observing architects’ enthusiasm when photographing buildings. Since the competition was launched, leading figures from the architecture and photography communities, such as Jack Pringle (Pringle Brandon Architects), Keith Priest (Fletcher Priest Architects), Simon Allford (Allford Hall Monaghan Morris) and architectural photographers George Kavanagh and Grant Smith, have formed part of the prestigious judging panel.
The exhibition is split into two categories: Architecture and Place (focusing on the aesthetics of the architecture and the places it creates), and Architecture and People (celebrating the interaction of people with the environments created by architecture).
To mark the launch of the exhibition, a panel of leading architects, photographers and specialist media will discuss the relationship between Photography and Architecture during a Round Table session on Wednesday 27th of June (7pm-8pm – drinks served from 6pm). The discussion will look at how photography can work within the world of architecture and how these different photographic perspectives can inspire new projects. Moderator, Editor-in-Chief of Building Design, Amanda Baillieu will be joined by architectural photographers; Grant Smith and Luke Hayes as well as Architects Simon Allford, Director, Allford Hall Monaghan Morris and Jack Pringle, Partner, Pringle Brandon Architects.
To attend the discussion panel please RSVP: [email protected] or call Roca London Gallery on 0207 610 9503. For more information on Architect’s Eye visit www.architectseye.co.uk.
