ADP architects launches student photography competition: Architecture Naturally

ADP, a leading nationwide architectural practice, today announces the launch of its second photography competition, Architecture Naturally. The competition focuses on an important relationship - that which exists between architecture, and the natural world and is open to students over the age of 16 studying photography, a photography-related course, architecture or an architecture-related course. The winner will be awarded a one thousand pound commission to photograph one of ADP’s completed buildings, plus 750 pounds worth camera equipment vouchers and a year subscription to Digital Photographer magazine. Second prize is 500 pounds of vouchers and Adobe Photoshop and third prize is 250 pounds of vouchers and Adobe Lightroom. The top 3 entrants will also receive a unique Callprint Discount Card – entitling them to 25% off printing for a whole year.

The judges will be looking for photographs which best capture the subtle interaction between people and the built environment as we go about our daily lives. A full information pack is available now from ADP’s website: www.adp-architects.co.uk. Closing date for entries is 31.03.10.

The winning photograph, two runners-up and a number of highly commended photographs, will be selected by a panel of judges, including Jeni Burnell, Programme Manager of this year’s chosen charity, Architecture Sans Frontières - UK (ASF-UK), acclaimed architectural photographer Peter Cook, Debbi Allen, Editor of Digital Photographer magazine, and ADP’s London studio partner, Roger FitzGerald.

Along with the winners, a list of highly commended photographs and selected entries will be exhibited at two private exhibitions in 2010. Guests to the exhibitions will have the opportunity to bid in a silent auction for the prints on display, and all funds raised from the auction will go to ASF-UK.

Roger FitzGerald, Partner at ADP, says: “This is the second year we have run our student photography competition. Last year, students of photography, architecture or related disciplines up and down the country showed tremendous technical skill and sensitivity to the brief, producing outstanding images. We’re looking forward to seeing what this year’s brief inspires in our entrants.”
