ATP Showcases Latest Flash Card Innovation at Computex 2005

New ProMax Super High Speed (133X) SD cards up to 2GB and MMCmicroTM cards up to 512MB for Latest Mobile Phones

Sunnyvale, CA (May 30, 2005) - ATP, a leading manufacturer of quality memory products, will showcase its latest flash media products at Computex Taipei 2005 from May 31 to June 4, in Taipei Taiwan. The ATP booth is located in Hall 1, Area C, Booth # C1100, C1102, C1199, and C1201, where ATP will debut both its ProMaxTM series of super high speed SD cards and MMCmicroTM cards. Both product unveilings are expected to solidify ATP’s leading expertise in the design and manufacture of the highest capacity, performance and quality flash cards in ultra small form factors.

The all-new ATP ProMaxTM SD card products will come in capacities of up to 2GB initially, with a 4GB card planned for later this year in Q4. Conforming to the latest SD v1.1 system specification, they are rated at super fast 133X transfer rates (up to read 20MB/s and 18MB/s write). This tremendous level of performance is ideal for today’s demanding applications such as high-end digital photography and video recording. Designed to handle progressively larger and higher resolution pictures in uncompressed RAW format or MPEG2-HD video quality, they allow for professional photographers and enthusiasts to maintain a fast rate of shooting with high megapixel digital cameras and camcorders such as the Nikon D50. Mass production of the ProMaxTM lineup will start in July.

“Designed especially for professional or high end digital cameras which demand both higher capacities and faster transfer speeds, the ATP ProMaxTM SD lineup is the perfect high speed memory storage solution for new digital imaging devices. This extreme level of performance combined with renowned ATP weatherproof durability makes the ATP ProMaxTM series the most premium SD card in the industry”, stated Tim Hsieh, President of ATP.

ATP MMCmicroTM is an ultra small form factor memory card which will be released with initial capacities up to 512MB. It is designed for use with new generation mobile phones such as the Samsung SCH-D730, SGH-D720, SPH-V7800, SCH-V770, SPH-S3900, and with many more expected to be released in the near future from various handset OEMs. Measuring at a tiny 14mm x 12mm x 1.1mm and offering dual voltage support (1.8/3.3V), the MMCmicroTM card is an ideal storage solution perfectly suited for highly functional, multimedia featured phones with significant space and power saving design considerations. First introduced by Samsung at end of 2004, the MMCmicroTM card is currently undergoing the adoption process by the MMC Association.

Compared to other similar sized memory cards, the ATP MMCmicroTM card will allow for double the capacity of multimedia content such as video, music, photos, games, and ringtones to be stored on a single card. “Current generation multimedia featured phones are offering improved photography, video recording, audio, gaming, and office application functionalities, but are still limited in storage capacity due to size constraints. In addition to attracting the phone OEMs, the larger storage capacities with valuable handset real estate savings will allow users to fully unleash their multimedia functions, truly making their phones complete portable multimedia solutions”, said Danny Lin, ATP VP of Sales and Marketing. “In addition to the new ProMaxTM and MMCmicroTM lineup, ATP MMCplusTM and MMCmobileTM cards will continue to establish ATP as the true leader in flash card performance and technology”.

All the new ATP product lineups offer the same advanced features as ATP’s other flash card products, allowing for ample protection from water, dust, ESD (electro-static discharge), and extreme temperatures ranging from –40C to 85C. This allows for a level of versatility and durability rarely found today in flash memory cards.
