Bowens is set to launch a number of new products in 2016, including innovative lighting equipment the company believes will be ‘game-changing’ in the industry. "New product development is the number one target for us," said John Gobby, Managing Director. "Our R&D team is expanding and not only are we going to be launching exciting new products but we are going to be launching them much faster." New technical director John Gass, added: "We are working more closely than ever before with photographers on focus groups and already as a result of this we are planning new and different products that will appeal to diverse segments of our market. Our professional photographer customers worldwide will see that Bowens is in the business of providing genuine design innovation and functionality across its portfolio."

Bowens sees the future in a brand new light

Bowens is set to launch a raft of new products in 2016 – including innovative lighting equipment the company believes will be ‘game-changing’ in the industry.

New MD John Gobbi has pledged to expand the Bowens R&D team as part of a programme of change that has also seen new appointments at director level at the Colchester, Essex-based company.

‘New product development is the number one target for us’, said Gobbi. ‘I have been appointed to be an agent for change and I am putting in place a new structure and a new layer of senior management to ensure our growth ambitions are met in the coming months.’

Gobbi who has a background in engineering, technology, sales, new product development and consultancy at major blue-chip organisations, including Pirelli, added: ‘Things are changing at Bowens. We have some very exciting products in the pipeline right now for launch next year, and we intend to follow those up with an additional array of game-changing lighting equipment. The future direction for Bowens is all about innovation. Our R&D team is expanding and not only are we going to be launching exciting new products but we are going to be launching them much faster.”

New sales and marketing director Alan Walmsley, a brand expert with extensive import and export know-how said: “This new-look Bowens team is going to work as one to deliver the dynamic new products that the market needs. Alongside our product launches we will also be adding much more focus to our unique photographer education programme. 2016 will be a big year for us.’

New technical director John Gass, a product development guru and former electronics engineer for Philips and Ericsson in Sweden said: “I started on September 1st and already I have been to visit our factory in China twice. I need to see that our products are manufactured perfectly and on time.”

He added: “We have a very strong team here at Bowens and the key question we must always be looking to answer is; ‘are we giving customers what they need in an ever-evolving marketplace?’
