CALUMET CELEBRATES 20 YEARS IN GLASGOW

In 1995, Calumet Photographic first opened its doors in Glasgow and has been providing photography professionals and enthusiasts with their award-winning service ever since.

To celebrate its 20th anniversary, the Calumet Photographic store in Glasgow is hosting a week of special events featuring experts from leading photography brands to offer advice and product demonstrations; from Tuesday 4 until Friday 7 August.

The store has seen and embraced 20 years of change, including the evolution of digital photography. Today Calumet has become one of the biggest trusted brands amongst professional photography.

Alan Reilly, Store Manager can accurately describe the store in the early days as someone who was part of the original team.  “Things were different then; there were no digital cameras, you were buying film and shooting on medium format cameras like Bronica, Mamiya and Hasselblad.  We had six fridges all stuffed with film and a cold room for the printing paper, our warehouse was overflowing with albums, pages and mounts…now, all of this has been replaced CF cards, hard drives and inkjet paper.”

Calumet Glasgow puts its continued success down to the loyalty of its customers over the past 20 years.  Alan comments: “The photographic industry is constantly evolving; it’s very exciting to be part of it.  Our team are second to none and their expertise is what our customers value the most.”

To celebrate 20 years of success, Calumet Glasgow has put on a host of events:

·         Tuesday 4 August – Profoto will offer some hands on demonstrations with the fantastic new range of flash equipment; B1, B2 and D1, with a selection of light shapers to show the different effects available.  This is suitable primarily at the professional and serious amateur photographer.

·         Wednesday 5 August – the much acclaimed Pentax 645Z (medium format DSLR) will be under the spotlight, with Eizo also demonstrating its professional monitors, and Colour Confidence advising on the importance of correct colour.  If that’s not enough, Epson will be supporting photographers to output their masterpieces with its top of the range printers.

·         Thursday 6 August – Fujifilm will be showing off the new X series cameras and lenses, as well as demonstrating how simple it is to produce top quality framed canvas prints at a fraction of the price of the commercially available variety, with the help of Epson.

·         Friday 7 August – the week will end with a pro video day: Canon will demonstrate an extensive range of pro cameras and lenses with microphones and headphones from Sennheiser; stability will be added by Manfrotto; Global Distribution will handle sound recording with its range of Atomos recorders, also showing backup solutions from G-Technology; and keeping everything on track, Konova will demonstrate its tracks and sliders.
