Faces of Skateboarding
LONDON, UK This August for his premiere gallery showing, enterprising photographer Tim Hans presents Camden Town Skateboarders at East London’s leading gallery, theprintspace.
A young jet-set artist, Hans has launched a global project documenting skateboarders throughout the world that explores the isomorphic nature of the sport while depicting the range of characters within the realm of skateboarding.
Camden Town Skateboarders features local athletes and is the first exhibit of an on-going global project in which Hans brings a fresh and atypical style of photography to the skateboarding world through stripped-down portraits in place of flashy action shots. This personable approach combined with the compare-and-contrast nature of the photos selected, aids in humanising a stereotypically “misfit” subject, and is a soulful reminder that despite obvious differences, we are all quite alike.
Located in East London’s trendy Shoreditch, theprintspace gallery is a prime venue to host the first show for this progressive global project.
The opening reception is August 4th, 7-9:30 pm at theprintspace gallery on 74 Kingsland Road, and the exhibition will run from August 1st until August 31st. Admission free!
