Candela Project Gallery Launches New Website

Munich-based Candela Project Gallery nowoffers an online buyer’s option on its new website. The gallery responds to an international trend on the art market, which is reflected in the establishment of online-platforms, -associations and online art fairs. It contrasts the media age’s omnipresent flood of pictures with small editions and a professional selection of trend-setting photographic art. As a special highlight, single works also are available as unique Dyestransfer prints, which are especially appreciated by collectors. Currently, the Candela Project Gallery shows the exhibition EXPIRED, with collages of Polaroids, by the Canadian artist Chad Coombs for the first time in Europe. The exhibition can be visited until the 3rd of July 2011.
Candela Project Gallery Press Release
Art market seizes the Internet
Candela Project Gallery establishes an online dependance for contemporary photography
This year, Candela Project Gallery breaks new ground and expands its online-presence. With the beginning of March 2011 Candela Project offers an online buyer’s option on the new website www.candela-project.com, attended by detailed exhibitions and information on every represented artist. As from now, collectors and lovers of art all over the globe can purchase art works by established photographers and upcoming rising artists online.
Candela Project Gallery responds to an international trend on the art market, which is reflected in the establishment of online-platforms, -associations and online art fairs. In January 2011, for instance, the art fair ‘VIP Art Fair’ caused a sensation, as respected galleries presented themselves on the internet exclusively for the first time. At the same time Google’s ‘art project’ opens new digital spaces for the arts. This development also goes down with the public’s perception. So for example, the weekly newspaper “Die Zeit” summarizes the online art trade in a current article: ’...hereafter, concerning art, nobody can evade the internet.’ Therefore, the Candela Project Gallery attends to the possibilities, which result in the presentation of art on the internet, intensely and breaks the common habit of the traditional art market: all artworks’ prices and editions are visible for everyone at all times, which enables transparency.
The gallery contrasts the media age’s omnipresent flood of pictures with small editions and a professional selection of trend-setting photographic art. As a special highlight, single works also are available as unique Dyestransfer prints, which are especially appreciated by collectors. The Candela Project Gallery cooperates with the presently leading photographic laboratories and guarantees best quality. For individual consulting and support a qualified team is at your disposal in the Munich showrooms.
The Candela Project Gallery is the only gallery in Germany, which is specialized on contemporary photographic art exclusively. It respects this art on an equal footing next to other forms of art, as painting, sculpture and installations. The central concern is the support of upcoming talents. The gallery presents a broadly based range of national and international positions, which seize the classic genres portrait-, landscape- and architecture photography as well as tune in to experimental approaches. The presented artists make use of the possibilities, which are offered by the analog and digital photography and sound the barriers between production and reproduction within the medium at the same time.
Currently, the Candela Project Gallery shows the exhibition EXPIRED, with collages of Polaroids, by the Canadian artist Chad Coombs for the first time in Europe. The exhibition can be visited until the 3rd of July 2011.

Our Story
The Candela Project Gallery, with its headquarters in the Munich Glockenbach district, opened in 2008. For a long time now, we have been the only gallery in Munich which specialises exclusively in the presentation and placement of contemporary photography. The gallery acts on behalf of both established positions from the international photo scene, as well as young, as yet unknown talents
The active promotion of ambitious, international up-coming artists has a special place amongst our central interests. With exhibitions in our gallery rooms or at exclusive other locations, we wish to provide young photographers an opportunity to introduce themselves and their work for the first time. We publish limited special editions and offer unique prints for young art lovers and collectors. With our programme, the aim of the Candela Project Gallery is to create a special and unique portal for new, contemporary photography.
Exhibitions 2011
In 2011 the Candela Project Gallery focuses mainly on the portrait photography and devotes and applies itself to this genre in three exhibitions. In March the exhibition ‘EXPIRED’ inaugurates our new showrooms in Holzstraße 11 with photo collages by the Canadian artist Chad Coombs. Subsequently, we are pleased to present the series ‘Underwater’ by the photographer Erin Mulvehill, who lives in New York. At the end of the year the exhibition “Come as you are” presents analog photographed black and white portraits from the artist Daniel Völker, which, in context of a benefit performance, will be put up for auction.
