Canon UK Press Release

Canon, leader in photographic and imaging technology, is helping World Press Photo to celebrate its 50th Anniversary. World Press Photo is an independent non-profit organisation that is renowned for organising the world’s most prestigious photojournalism competition on an annual basis. On the occasion of the foundation’s 50th birthday, Canon is holding a special dinner in celebration of over a decade of involvement as a corporate sponsor. All recipients of the World Press Photo of the Year Award will be invited to attend the dinner that will be hosted by Mogens Jensen, Head of Canon Consumer Imaging Europe.

World Press Photo and Canon
Since 1955, World Press Photo has been presenting an annual photojournalism competition that brings together the most important reportage images of the year. Winning images from ten different categories are chosen by an independent jury and an overall winner selected. Today, as well as being the world’s most important photojournalism competition, World Press Photo is a forum through which photojournalists can discuss their work. Canon is pleased to work together with World Press Photo to promote excellence in photojournalism and encourage the sharing of knowledge and communication of important events through photography.

50th Anniversary Symposiums
On the weekend of the 7th and 8th of October, World Press Photo will coordinate a series of symposiums in Amsterdam, one of which Canon will present. These symposiums will cover trends in the photojournalism industry.

Canon congratulates World Press Photo on reaching such a momentous milestone and looks forward to further supporting excellence in photojournalism.
