Canon Launches 'My Canon' Consumer Web Portal
Canon UK Press Release 21/09/04
Canon, leader in photographic and imaging technology, is pleased to announce the launch of My Canon: an online customer relationship management (eCRM) portal at http://my.canon-europe.com. My Canon consolidates a range of existing and new online services, including the CANON iMAGE GATEWAY and Your Print.
Launched in 2003, Canon’s online CANON iMAGE GATEWAY offers owners of selected Canon digital imaging products the facility to upload images and video clips to create and share their own personal online photo galleries. The launch of the My Canon portal adds new options such as an online digital imaging desktop and an information centre, where users can obtain latest Canon product information, plus tips and tools designed to help realise their visual expression.
About - My Canon
Membership to the My Canon portal is open to all, while the CANON iMAGE GATEWAY remains exclusive to owners of select Canon products.
Existing members of the CANON iMAGE GATEWAY will log on to the site using their current user name and password, while first time visitors are invited to register by providing personal details and preferences.
Members are invited to update their personal profile, which is taken into account by the eCRM system when tailoring information to meet the needs and preferences of each individual user. Members will also be able to subscribe to Canon?s personalised online e-news magazine ?You Connect?, delivered in any one of nine preferred languages.
After logging on to My Canon, members can download software, access 3D Paper Art (a library of paper model craft projects for all ages that utilises colour printing) and Clip Art libraries, and access the Canon Europe Web Self Service (CEWSS) and online manuals for assistance with product instruction. Users can also view and compare Canon?s range of consumer imaging products such as cameras, printers and scanners.
About - Your Print
?Your Print? is an online ?try before you buy? service for people interested in Canon printers. Users upload their favourite photo or image and request a print sample from the Ink Jet printer model or models of their choice. Samples are then mailed out free of charge.
About - CANON iMAGE GATEWAY
CANON iMAGE GATEWAY is an existing service providing members with 100MB of online storage for uploading images and video clips. It is free and available to purchasers of Canon digital still cameras, digital video cameras and CP Printers . Users can invite anyone to login and share personal selections of images. Photos can be uploaded directly to the secure site from the user?s camera, along with individual sounds and comments, to create personalised albums themed around special events such as weddings, holidays and birthdays.
From October 2004, members will be able to access the CANON iMAGE GATEWAY and browse their online photo albums via their mobile phone . In the future, Canon plans to provide connectivity to the Gateway via PDA or digital television.
Access to the ?My Camera? feature on the site allows members to download software containing themed sounds and images ? ranging from abstract art to nature shots ? to customise their digital camera?s start-up image and sounds, operation sounds, shutter sounds and self-timer sounds.
Members can also share images by creating a personalised screensaver, which allows friends to enjoy a slide show of the member?s latest pictures. Streaming video can also be uploaded, and the facility exists to create and send electronic greeting cards (e?cards) incorporating personalised text.
