The new Canon RF 24-105mm F4-7.1 IS STM is a lightweight, compact and versatile zoom lens that's the perfect partner for the EOS RP mirrorless camera.

This versatile and affordable zoom boasts 5-stops of Image Stabilization, an STM motor that's well-suited to both stills and video, and is smaller and lighter than the EF version.

It also features a brand new 0.5x “Centre focus macro” mode, which offers 13cm macro mode when using Manual Focus at the 24mm focal length. Only the centre-point is in perfect focus and there will be some vignetting, but this new mode opens up the world of macro shooting.

It weighs in at just 880g combined with the EOS RP camera with battery and memory card fitted, making it an ideal entry-level kit choice.

The Canon RF 24-105mm F4-7.1 IS STM will be available from April priced at £459.99 / €549.99.

In the US, the Canon EOS RF 24-105mm F4-7.1 IS STM lens has an estimated retail price of $399.99 for the lens only. It will also be sold as a body-and-lens kit with the EOS R and RP cameras.

Canon have also announced the development of the new RF 100-500mm F4.5-7.1 L IS USM super-zoom lens, and also the Extender RF 1.4x and Extender RF 2x.

Canon has also confirmed that it will release five more RF lenses this year (as yet unspecified), bringing the total to nine new RF lenses in 2020.

Canon announces 2020 RF lens products and launches the compact, versatile, lightweight RF 24-105mm F4-7.1 IS STM

United Kingdom, Republic of Ireland, 13th February 2020 – Canon Inc. today launches the RF 24-105mm F4-7.1 IS STM and announces the development of the RF 100-500mm F4.5-7.1 L IS USM, Extender RF 1.4x and Extender RF 2x. Furthering its commitment to the EOS R System and RF Mount, Canon also confirms it will release five more RF lenses this year, bringing the total to nine new RF lenses in 2020.

With a focal length of 24-105mm, weighing just 395g and sizing up at 88.8mm x 76.6mm – the RF 24-105mm F4-7.1 IS STM is ideal for those that want a lens with great focal length versatility but don’t have a lot of space in their kit bag nor want a heavy load – often a requirement of travel photographers. As a result, subjects in the centre of the frame are pin-sharp, exposing beautiful hidden detail, and the edges of the image fade away into an attractive blur – perfect for photographers looking to push creative boundaries.
