Canon extends applications of photo printers with new photo media

Canon, leader in photographic and imaging technology, has launched a number of new media products to expand their photo media range. This media extends the creative and practical applications of its latest photo printers. The new media includes:

- Double-sided photo paper Photo Paper Plus Double Sided PP-101D available in A4 and 13 x 18 cm (5” x 7”) sizes
- Two kits containing everything needed for creating a personalised digital photo album (Photo Album Kit PAK-101 ? available in A4 and 5x7 sizes)
- Credit card size glossy media (Glossy Photo Paper GP-401)
- Photo stickers (Photo Stickers PS-101)

Canon recently launched a range of futuristically designed ‘plug and print’ personal photo printers with its new PIXMA sub-brand, and today launched a range of compact photo printers with its new SELPHY sub-brand. With digital camera growth at an all time high, and the recent explosion in camera phone usage, home photo printing in Europe is also set to enjoy strong growth. Canon expects demand for different types of photo media to show a corresponding increase.

Canon?s new small format sticker and credit card size media are particularly suitable for printing directly from compatible mobile phones (via infrared print), digital cameras or from memory cards.

Double-sided photo paper & Photo Album Kit
Photo Paper Plus Double Sided PP-101D is a high quality photo paper that is printable on both sides and is especially suitable for album printing. With a heavy weight of 273 g/m, a resin coated base and a fine-textured satin finish, Photo Paper Plus Double Sided is available in A4 and 13 x 18 cm sizes, in packs of 10 sheets.

The paper will also be included as part of a Photo Album Kit PAK-101, which contains everything needed to make a personalised digital photo album, scrapbook, recipe book or other type of book using the latest PIXMA photo printers.  The kit includes a high quality, hardback album cover/binder, one packet of PP-101D (10 sheets), locking clips and instructions.

The new PP-101D media and PAK-101 album kit work particularly well with printers that feature built-in auto duplex printing, such as the PIXMA iP4000. The new version of PhotoRecord software provided with PIXMA printers makes printing a photo album very simple, while the Easy-PhotoPrint application facilitates double-sided photo printing.

Credit card glossy media
Canon?s Glossy Photo Paper GP-401 is now available in a new credit card size (86 x 54 mm) ? ideal for quickly and easily printing wallet-sized photos or business cards and name cards. Print borderless photos direct from suitable digital cameras, memory cards or mobile telephones (via infrared print) or print using a PC via applications such as Easy-PhotoPrint. This media is sold in packs of 100 sheets.

Photo stickers
The new Photo Stickers PS-101 from Canon are designed for both fun and practical purposes, and are available in packs of five sheets of 16 stickers (17 x 24 mm each). The stickers are expected to be particularly popular with young people and are ideal for printing photos at home, directly from digital cameras or mobile phones.

Package Design
Canon has updated the package design for its existing range of photo media products to be in line with that of the new media products. Packaging now provides a clear indication of the quality level, surface finish and usage, as well as key information such as the paper size, weight and number of sheets per pack.
