Canon’s PIXMA Printers Best in Test
Canon UK Press Release
Canon, leader in photographic and imaging technology, is pleased to announce that two of Europe’s independent consumer magazines – UK’s ‘Which?’ and Netherlands’ ‘Consumtenbond-Consumentengids’ – have highlighted Canon PIXMA photo printers as the best available. This coincides with Canon taking the number one market share position in Germany for Ink Jet printers (Source Gfk Feb to Nov 2004).
Launched in mid 2004, Canon’s PIXMA range of photo printers surprised the market with contemporary, stylish design combined with industry leading 1 and 2 picolitre droplet size, producing photo prints that are in many cases superior in quality to that produced by traditional high street photo labs. Since the PIXMA range launch, Canon’s market share has grown by 34%.
In a result that shows how Canon is leading the market, Canon photo printers are chosen in the February 2005 edition of ‘Which?’ magazine for each of its top three ‘Best Buys’. In addition to this, five of the six printers featured by ‘Which?’ are Canon printers and four of those are Canon’s PIXMA brand. ‘Which?’ magazine states that ‘Canon continues to provide the best all-round deal on inkjet printers. For the past two years it has married quality, speed and versatility with low running costs, and the new PIXMA range is no different’. The PIXMA iP2000 is described as a printer that ‘outshines printers at over three times its price’.
The top Canon printers chosen by ‘Which?’ magazine are the flagship PIXMA iP8500, iP4000R, iP4000, iP2000 and the Bubble Jet i990. Printers are rated by ‘Which?” on Print quality, speed, use, versatility, construction and recyclability.
In its February 2005 edition, the highly regarded Dutch consumer watchdog Consumentenbond-Consumentengids runs the headline ‘Canon the Best’, encouraging its readers to choose Canon ahead of competing brands. After exhaustive testing of all leading brands, the magazine scores Canon’s PIXMA printers higher than any other. The PIXMA iP8500, iP4000 and iP2000 all have the best scores. The highly regarded PIXMA iP4000 is voted as Best Buy, while the iP8500 gets the highest score of all printers on performance and technical features.
Consumentenbond-Consumentengids also reports that 89% of Canon users are satisfied with their purchase – more than users of any other brand. It also rates Canon highly on environmental factors thanks to the PIXMA’s extremely low power consumption and transparent ink cartridges, which reduce waste and increase user-friendliness.
The January edition of Norway’s Dine Penger magazine also gives PIXMA a seal of approval, rating the PIXMA iP5000 higher than all other brands tested.
