CANON U.S.A. ADDS THREE NEW STYLISH AND EASY-TO-USE SCANNERS TO THE INDUSTRY’S BEST-SELLING LINE-UP

LAKE SUCCESS, N.Y., August 11, 2008 – Canon U.S.A., Inc., a leader in digital imaging, today announced three new color image scanners are joining the Canon CanoScan line-up - the CanoScan 5600F, CanoScan LiDE200 and CanoScan LiDE100. These new CanoScan color image scanners provide consumers with an easy-to-use and affordable way to archive photos or to e-mail a document that needs to be submitted before the close-of-business.

To further enhance the overall quality of scans, the new Auto Scan Mode has been included on all of these new CanoScan color image scanners. This new feature allows for the scanner to recognize the type of document when the new dedicated “SCAN” button is pressed, then scan and save the document with the suitable settings automatically. Consumers will no longer have to determine and select settings such as the document type, resolution or preview and crop images. By using Auto Scan Mode, users can reduce the scanning process from eight steps down to two. Furthermore, by adopting Dual Color Gamut Processing Technology, the image processing workflow matches the color tones between the original and scanned images for a more accurate reproduction. The inclusion of seven “EZ Buttons” on the CanoScan 5600F Color Image Scanner and four on the CanoScan LiDE200 and LiDE100 Color Image Scanners enables consumers to quickly copy, scan, e-mail or create a PDF file with just one push of a button.

“The introduction of the new CanoScan color image scanners further solidifies Canon’s commitment to providing leading-edge technology to consumers at an affordable price,” said Yuichi Ishizuka, senior vice president and general manager, Consumer Imaging Group, Canon U.S.A. “With the emergence of scrapbooking and other forms of digital archiving, Canon scanners provide consumers with the comfort of knowing their scanned documents will be as good as the original.”

CANON CANOSCAN 5600F COLOR IMAGE SCANNER
The CanoScan 5600F Color Image Scanner provides consumers with a solution for all photo archiving needs with the ability to scan up to six frames of a 35mm filmstrip or four 35mm slides at a maximum optical resolution of 4800 x 9600 dots-per-inch (dpi).1 Consumers can start to scan in their favorite photos or documents once the scanner is powered on due to the inclusion of a white LED, which eliminates warm-up time while decreasing overall power consumption. With the use of Quick and Automatic Retouching and Enhancement (QARE) Level 3 technology, which aids in automatic dust, scratch, fading and graininess reduction, consumers can be comfortable knowing memories can be preserved the way they were meant to be. The CanoScan 5600F Color Image Scanner also has the ability to scan letter-sized color documents at a resolution of 300 dpi in approximately 11 seconds.2 To improve overall usability, the scanner has been designed with a built-in power source, an easier to open document cover and internally wired FAU cable. The estimated selling price for the CanoScan 5600F Color Image Scanner is $149.99.3
